Walking like a Penguin
Kaboooooom!! Yo did it. Well done Bess. Do a Whoop Whoop immediately.
I did my first run two days ago (my 2nd this morning) and I felt so bloody sore! But rest assured your rest days heals like a thing that heals. You'll be fine for run 2 so don;t worry. Your legs will fell like concrete today but tomorrow they'll fell like.......well, a bit concretey but at least you'll be able to run. Take it slowwwwww - that's the advice I've gleaned form these forums and its good advice too.
Dan
Thanks danzargo for your tips, hope it will be the same for me.
Guys, you've already overcome the hardest part in my opinion. Getting out there and starting the plan. So a big congratulations is due.
And perfectly normal that you feel a bit tender after a run. The beauty with this plan is how gradually you build your fitness, which reduces the soreness after each run over time.
Don't be tempted to push on too quickly. If on your 2nd run day you (in the words of your daughter :-)) are still walking like a Penguin and still a bit achy, give it another day before going out again.
As Dan says, take it nice and slow and you'll get there. Well Done.
Hello, I couldn't walk after I'd completed week1! I suppose it is all about using muscles you haven't done for a long time! It does get better and as others have said, the rest days are there for a reason so do listen to Laura. If I hurt too much then I don't run, listen to your body and be sensible. Good luck, it's a great programme which does work.
