Dogged by niggling injuries

Having had a pretty easy ride until week 6, I've been picking up niggling injuries which seem to be stopping me from completing the programme. I thought I'd identified the culprit as running on very quiet narrow country roads with my dogs (requiring me to turn my body frequently whilst running forwards in order to see if any cars were coming behind me). A change of route fixed that and my knees have been great since, but I then pulled a muscle in my calf. So frustrated was I that I might lose all the hard work to date, that I went out and bought an elliptical cross trainer. I'm currently doing some exercise on that in the hope that in the next few days I can get back out pounding the streets. :(

That's disappointing. Rest it well and follow drs orders so you can get back into action as soon as its healed. The cross trainer is a good idea.

Don't be too frustrated - you'll get back to it. Good idea to post and keep yourself 'in the loop'. Hope your calf behaves itself soon. :)

Completely understand your frustration, but you will get there, it may just take your legs a little longer than others to adjust to running. I know I had a couple of set backs, listen to your body, you will get there even though it will frustrate a little.

Good luck :D

Having suffered with running injury I know how frustrating it is to be unable to run. You won't lose your fitness too quickly so hopefully can pick up where you left off when your leg is better.
