COPD & vitamin D

I have severe (COPD) Emphysema & Sjogrens .

My GP prescribed Evacal 400iu chewable Vitamin D twice a day a few months ago and has made a great improvement to how I feel. It is combined with vit C but I think because of lockdown and not getting enough time outside I was Vit D deficient . GP says ok to continue through the winter so it is on repeat prescription!

The Vitamin D is set too low in UK , get some from USA , I buy mine from Iherbs, 5000 or 10,000 IU,s per capsule. iherb.com/pr/Doctor-s-Best-...

If you are low in Vitamin D, it can be very beneficial. I would suggest that those taking it without truly being low in Vitamin D are simply producing expensive urine.

I think I will settle for expensive urine and not be deficient. 🤣

Just be careful,,,,or at least discuss with your physician.

Here is some information from Harvard:

Hi John,That is an interesting site thanks for that link, however it was my GP who prescribed it for and assures it is ok to continue through the winter.

👍

Excellent!! I was never against Vitamin D. I was simply saying that those choosing to take it without a physician's advice or truly knowing if they were deficient in it were most likely taking a risk. I am not a professional in medicine at all and would never tell someone what to take or not to take. Just that due diligence is always the best course of action!! Be well!

I agree completely and I checked with my GP because I know some vitamins do not flush out and can be as much a problem as they are helpful. Stay well 👍
