Hi I am new on here came across this site and I've read some good information and the people seem very supportive. I have COPD quit smoking just over 4 months ago and I am vey breathless I've also been more ill since quitting than when I smoked. I'm just getting over an exacerbation and sinus infection. Before I got the exacerbation and sinus infection I was walking daily I was breathless when I started the exercising back in Feb but felt I was getting better and better. Now I feel like I'm back to square one. GP has just put me on a new inhaler Trelegy and I'm hoping this helps, I'm back walking daily but not reaching my resting posts as I'm breathless before reaching them. Anyone else experienced anything similar? Any replies will be gratefully received. Thanks

Hi Jake, I quit smoking about 13 years before being told I have emphysema, so I never had to deal with both at the same time. After I quit I found that I had sinus issues, and seasonal allergies (never noticed them before the smoke cleared). I have never had an exacerbation, but from what I've read it can put you back a few steps.
Give yourself some time to recover and regain some strength.
If you never get back to walking as far as you used to, try to look at the positive side, your still walking.
All we can do is to do the best we can do.
Hi Jake25. I Stopped smoking in December 1990. @ 35 years old. And only last year at 64 years old was diagnosed with copd and needing a pacemaker in the same week. I think the copd may have been there for a few years. But I just put it down to being unfit and overweight and didn't really notice it doing my job. You will get some good help and advice on this group and as KatherineK said as long as we can still get out and about that's good and keeping us going. Take care of yourself. Brian
