My breathing had gotten very bad so the lung doctor phoned and has put me on 6 a day for a week and then 2 a day.

Just wondering has anyone out there tried this steroid treatment?

Sounds to be an oral corticosteroid with a tapering, where you start at a higher dose and then taper off. If the prescription is for just 5 or 6 days, some doctors don't necessarily taper.....but sounds as if you need it. (Just my thoughts based on my experience and general knowledge....not to be taken as professional advice)

Its a common prescription when you have a flare up. Usually its something like 40mg a day for 7 days then 30 for 7 and 20 for 7 then 10 for 7 and done. Some doctors feel the new research that just on it for 5 or 10 days is enough. Some patients are on prednisone every day for maintenance. Prednisone is the most common steroid prescribed but usually comes in generic form. But those on maintenance get checked frequently for bone loss and other issues. The one your on should be no problem and will help knock out the inflammation. They even gave some to my son when he had tooth problem to lessen the swelling.

Thanks for the info, must say I have been feeling better since starting the steroids. Have finished the 6 tabs a day now down to two.
