I Am New Here But Anxious To Hear Others Stories

I was diagnosed with COPD just over a year ago! I believe I am at Stage 2 at this time! This has certainly impacted my life in so many ways! I am on 2 types of Inhalers and Ox at night! It has really slowed me down! I use to love walking, walked from 3 to 6 miles a day, how I wish I could still do that! I do try to do as much as possible, some days I just can't! Because of the inactivity I have gained weight, depressing!!!

Hi I have had COPD for over 20 years and I'm at stage 3. It has certainly impacted on my life so much I can no longer do but I do as much as I can and watch what I eat. I try to look on the bright side as there are many people who are so much worse off than me. I keep smiling and enjoy my family and friends I also love this site great help and support.

Hi barbs47 you are to be commended for having a positive attitude considering you have been ill for over 20yrs. As you say there are plenty of people worse off than yourself and I always say " Life is what you make it".

Stay Positive.

Regards. John

I do agree, there are many much worse than I am! I have bad days and I have better days! On the better days I try my hardest to enjoy them! I have noticed that I can go for a period of time where I feel decent, lasts maybe a couple weeks with no issues, then it all comes back, worse than it was! Do you ever experience times like this?

Hi yes I think you'll find we all do so I just take each day as it comes. Friday was a really good day went for lunch with some of my family then went to my daughters 10th wedding anniversary party in the evening and had a great time - then wham woke up Saturday feeling dreadful and spent most of the day in bed think I over did it. But life is for living and I just do whatever I can on each day. Hope this helps for you x

Hi I'm Debbie and I'm in stage four copd, have had this for about five yrs. Yea, it got bad quickly. I'm not sure what to think. Dr says I don't have the protein of copd and I'm young to be so severe. On three inhalers and nebulizer plus oxygen 24/7 it's hard to know if you really have this or is there something there not seeing. And if stem cell therapy works shouldn't everyone be entitled to that chance not just great insurance or money. Just got so many questions, I'm glad to have ppl who understand

Hi Debbie I agree with you regarding stem cell therapy but I don't think it's at a stage for general use. I believe it's very much at the experimental stage let's hope they perfect it soon. Take care Barbs x

Have you checked into stem cell tx? Do you know anyone who has done it?

Hi Hidden sorry to hear your not well. If you are at Stage 2 COPD you have most probably had COPD for more than a year. Usually if you don't smoke and you have the right medication the progression of COPD can be slowed down quite a bit. My wife has had COPD for over 12yrs and she doesn't need oxygen yet but is on a lot of medication. She still has a full life, be it slower.

Having a positive attitude can make a big difference to how you feel. Exercise when you can but don't overdo it and try to watch the type of food you eat. It also helps if you have support from family and friends. If you find you are getting depressed, don't suffer in silence, have a word with your doctor about it.

I wish you all the best.

Regards. John

Hi I wasn't aware that I asked for help with either my diet or my health. I have managed my health issues very well thanks I live and enjoy my life, I do a lot more than exist.

Just my opinion, but I have absolutely no faith in any of the methods of treatments you mention! I also do not have any faith in essential oils! I only believe in what my Drs prescribe for me, that is why they are Drs! If you have found these work for you, then great but I will not go that route! Thanks for your info!

I wish I was able to say that I have gained weight from inactivity. I have end stage COPD and I had a bad attack in February 2015. I was put on a bipap and ever since I have been losing weight. I went from 140 pounds down to 98 pounds. I am unable to get the weight back on.

I too was diagnosed last August, I quit smoking August 21st 2015. I have felt terrible for months, short of breath, gained 27 lbs and it doesn't help, I don't eat, and have thyroid inactivity. On meds for that. I just can't even do housework the way I use to. I already take zoloft and have for years for depression. But I don't think it helps. I want to be able to live again. COPD SUCKS

Just one question to you! Do you sell the items you keep referring to on everyones posts?

Absolutely not

For one thing, I do not believe in stages! Stage 1, stage 2, stage 3, etc. Sometimes our condition is worse than others. There is usually a reason we have bad times and often it is the medication. I was diagnosed in 2001. I knew I had emphysema much longer than that. Doctor put me on steroids inhalers - three of them. I did well for a while, then started to decline, got worse and worse and worse. Finally, a few years ago, I quit the medication. Instantly, I started feeling better, the coughing subsided and my breathing was better. I do not wheeze, I do not cough, and this morning, my saturation was 97 and holding. I am still short of breath often, but that's when I grab the oxygen. I only use it when I cannot breathe comfortably on my own. I do not take any medication at this time. None! Talk to your doctor. Mine wouldn't listen and I had to grab the bull by the horns and take responsibility for my own health. Anything that happens from her on is up to me. Hope your doctor will listen. Breathe easy my friend. Get better soon!

Hi, grandma25, I have emphysema and am on O2 around the clock. I've started taking pill supplements, a "tonic" of ginger root, turmeric, garlic, onion, brown sugar and water (twice a day). I'm still on neb tx 3 times a day and 5mg of prednisone a day. Tomorrow I start on probiotic. Can you share what other alternative or natural tx's you are using? Thanks for sharing!

Yes it's depressing, I have gained 30 pounds. I will start pulmonary rehab starting July 5th

I hope that slows down the COPD and hopefully lose some of this weight :(
