I’m Back

I haven’t posted anything for the last three months. I went on holiday and felt great, but lots seems to have happened since then. I have been having tests for my heart as I keep getting a sort of dizziness. Turns out my heart is fine and now they think it might be my ears so I am on anti-dizziness tablets and trying to get rid of sinusitis. I have been seeing my doctor on a monthly basis, but not really about the COPD rather the other conditions. My husband has been diagnosed with bladder cancer but the emergency operation had to be cancelled as they found that he also has a heart condition. 12 weeks later he has an angiogram on Tuesday, so hopefully they can sort his heart and then the cancer.

The upshot is that I think I went into denial about the COPD. I haven’t really been exercising, eating rubbish and not losing the weight I need to. The doctor hasn’t really mentioned it and doesn’t seem too concerned and says it is mild. She has dropped my Seretide 125 down to one puff, twice a day and I find I don’t have to use my Salamol at all. I have now had a letter inviting me to a COPD self-management programme which complements the pulmonary rehabilitation which I can be referred to if I wish (not sure what the second one is, should I go?). So, it has now bought it home to me again that I also need to start looking after myself if I want to hold this at bay for as long as I can. You have all been such an excellent support, that I will definitely be around a lot more again.

Sorry you're going through all that. I hope & pray that your husband receives all the tests & treatments he needs. I think you should accept anything that may help keep you be healthy. I'd try it & see if it works for you. Glad you were able to vacation for a while. I hope you get back on track with doing what will make you feel better...walk, exercise, drink a lot of water, etc. Glad you want to stay connected. Nothing like encouragement to help us through life. I know, I've received some myself.
