Has anyone tried stem cell treatment ? Its very expensive but worth it if it works . I have been looking into it , there is a clinic in Arizona where I live , however I can't help feeling that if it was any good it would have been recognized by the insurance companies by now . Any thoughts .
Stem Cell treatment : Has anyone tried stem... - COPD Friends
Stem Cell treatment
Thanks , seems like that says it all .
Quite agree I haven't been back for over a year now , still looking for a Pulmonologist that does not work for a corporate ( factory) practice . What happened to the old professionals with a surgery that didn't have 50 waiting room seats and a choice of 8 Doctors , all overbooked . Maybe I'm getting old but these days when you go and see any kind of Doctor you feel like your part of a production line.
I go to pulmonary therapy twice a week - I continued it on my own at a discounted rate after insurance wore off because I feel it is so important to do these exercises. Anyway another person who goes there had stem cell done up in Scottsdale Az where all the advertising is. You can choose a 1 treatment or 2 treatment. He paid for the 2 ($18,000) as opposed for one ($12,000). His first was some months ago, then he got an upper respiratory infection and had to postpone the second one but finally got that done in May. He says he hasn't seen any improvement yet but has high hopes.
I think we all hope for an easy fix but this is not it and I would not spend the money even if I had it. None of this is covered by insurance.
If you want to try out new options check with the University of Arizona (since you mentioned you live in Az) as they have many many clinical trials for lung issues.
There are a lot of conflicting opinions that I've heard. Some say it was the best thing they've done, others say it didn't work for them. Then I heard you have to get it done again after first time. My opinion is to research and talk to the ppl who do the procedures. If I could afford it, I'd do it. There's no side effects to it so yea, I'd do it. I hope this helps. Good luck to you if you decide to. Let us know how you do either way.
Thanks everyone for your input ,much appreciated
O was told by cops exercise people it wasn't a proven thing for COPD. My friend had it for lover cancer and it worked fine but love can regrow lungs can not
Hate to tell you but Medicare is socialized medicine.
Have you tried medical marijuana?
As I am a 60s teen I have considered it . Maybe I should consider it again as they now have edibles , at least I probably wouldn't care about copd anymore , is this advice from somebody who has gone down that road?
I dont want to be cynical but i am insurance companies only look at cost and how accountable they will be to any problems that may arise for turning down a treatment plan.
I see this is an older post--sorry, just saw it. I was wondering if you were still thinking of the stem cell therapy. I'm open to new things, but I'm not sure if this is developed enough. I think down the road, it will be an option. I hope I'm still walking that road then! I live in Las Vegas where pot is legal. I know there are some Facebook sites that swear they have been cured with taking thc in different forms. Check out Jeff Waters on FB. I'm living here a bit over a year, and haven't really looked into much, except for getting some CBD oil with a little THC for relaxation (which didn't work) and a topical cream for pain in my hands (didn't work either). I read so much about the miracle outcomes from CBD, but maybe I haven't gone to the right dispensary yet.
Hi, I have severe eosinophilic asthma and I had the stem cell treatment at the lunginstitute.com in Scottsdale, AZ on July 31, 2018. It is now 6 mo. post treatment and I feel much better. Most of the patients there have COPD which I do not. However, my spirometry readings looked like a COPD patient.
I paid $5000 for treatment (2 days back to back). No insurance coverage.
It was a great choice for me.
Sincerely,
GettingBetterNow
I had it in Tampa. I must say, I have felt stronger but no improvement with my breathing. Would I give it another try. NO.
