My new Pulmonologist mentioned lung transplant as something for me to consider . I am open to advice from anyone with experience in this . I am exploring information on it but would like to hear from anyone who has had one or know of someone who has had one .

My husband was told that his best chance of living a longer life is a transplant. We will start the testing and such in March. Not sure what to expect.

After going through extensive evaluations, I was approved and added to the active list on October 27th. I have already been called once, but was experiencing infection, so I had to be "skipped". Hopefully, another opportunity will present itself soon. I'll be glad to answer any questions about the process that I went through and am presently going through. If you prefer, my email address is ldycatcoach@yahoo.com.

I went to jeffcopdwaters, I wouldn't expect changes like that but any change no matter how small is good for me, just wondering where you would get it & I'm not interested in getting high so if you could get it w/o that feature

Yes I would like more information about the lung transplant and testing details.

I was diagnosed in 2010-2011 w/ mild COPD . Now I'm at Severe COPD my pulmonary doctor wants me to get the testing done for transplant. Any information would help greatly !

It is very important to have the testing done as soon as possible. You want to be in good physical shape so try to stay active. Testing includes heart evaluations including EKG, Echocardiogram, and catheterization. Nuclear scans for digestion, scans for oxygen distribution, swallowing tests, tests to check for gerd, cancer evaluations such as colonoscopy, skin, mammogram, a bundle of different blood tests, a psychological evaluation, and physical fitness evaluation. The transplant team will set the tests up for you and you complete the majority over a four day period as an outpatient. The committee will then meet with all of the results and make their recommendations. You may contact me at ldycatcoach@yahoo.com if you have specific questions. I will be glad to try and answer them. Waiting for the call is a very anxiety laden period, but somehow your mind and body seem to make the necessary adjustments to cope. May God bless you as you consider this option. It is my only hope for life extension. Everyday is a gift from God.

Ldycatcoach ,

Thank you so much for answering my question.

There isn't very much info out there on this subject . I have found some but it didn't go into deep details like you have.

My pulmonary doctor hasn't really explained anything to do with the preparation for the testing.

Thank you once again !
