Hi everyone. I am new here. Happy to find a support group. I was diagnosed with COPD 5 yrs. ago. I am currently taking 2 different medications and use oxygen at night. Trying to learn how to live with this and. What to expect down the road.

Thank you.

Hi, I am new to the group as well! I received my diagnosis 1 year ago! I have some struggles since then! What are some of the things you struggle with? I also am on 2 meds and Ox at night!

I am not struggling with much right now. It takes me longer to do the housework. I take lots of breaks. Walking any long distance is really hard. On an average day the COPD doesn't get in my way. Things were a lot harder before I started the mess I am now on. What are you struggling with?

I use to walk 3 to 6 miles a day, I am lucky to walk around the block now! I have a very hard time in the shower, I would assume because of the steam! I can no longer stand the heat at all, I have a fan on me at all times! I ache all over in my rib cage area and I also bloat terrible at times, which is very hard to deal with, to the point I have to wear elastic waist pants only! And, of course, the exhaustion! I keep pushing on, I have to!

Thank you.

I am also new to this site. I was diagnosed in 2001, but know I have had it for years before that. I was in denial. I do not take any medication, but do have oxygen at night and portable if I want through the day. I only use it for a couple of hours at night, once in a while during day. I take it with me wherever I go, however. The steroids I was taking made me cough so bad I thought I'd pass out. I quit. I'm doing better. How do you cope? Well, one day at a time. I refuse to have a bad day. Every day I wake up breathing is a good day. We do when we can, we rest when we must and we hope for the best. Breathe easy my friend.
