Ileostomy soon....

I am 38, soon to be 39, and at the end of my rope. Been on every medicine. Have had two surgeries to remove damaged areas. Second surgery resulted in a fistula and I spent 18 months recovering from first surgery and second surgery 7 months later to repair fistula. It was a long haul. That was 3+ years ago. Now I am not responding to meds. Doctor is talking about an ileostomy and I am not sure what to think. Some positives and some negatives. Can't reverse the surgery so don't know how much more pain and meds I can take before I throw in the towel and do it. Any advice or personal stories when you were in my shoes is appreciated.

I had my ileostomy two years ago and have got a life now. I can go out to the theatre etc without worrying about dashing out every 5 mins to the loo!! Spent 7 years trying to get someone to listen to me and agree. It is a big decision but one I and my family think was the best thing ever.

I'm very happy I have my ileostomy. Like you, none of the meds worked. I'm doing very well now without any Crohn's meds at all, so far. It's been 5 years now.
