Hello all I am a 32 Yr old male, 6 weeks ago I was pretty healthy. All of a sudden on a Saturday morning after a gym workout I collapsed and lost energy in my body, paramedics records my BP as 195! I thought I was having a stroke and was told I did for 2 weeks and eventually testing showed no signs of stroke. No idea what it was but I'm still very weak everyday and now suffer with anxiety as I thought I was going to die that day. Moving on, within this time a week after the incident, I've developed stomach pain and inflamed loose stool and it's now been 5 weeks. I've done 2 stool samples which show raised calprotectin so now a long wait for gastro to do colonoscopy as they suspect sigmoid colitis. My stool varies, light brown, very dark brown, diarrhea, but usually either thin and long or small and fluffy. Left abdominal area where the pain is and feels tight all the time. Anyone suffering with anything similar?

Sigmoid Colitis
Hi Aceofspace,
Thanks for posting with us. I hate to hear you're having to deal with all this. I hope you figure out the blood pressure surge as well. Sounds kind of scary. I am glad to see that you are definitely not ignoring symptoms. As far as what you're experiencing with your abdominal pain and stools, this could be caused by a lot of different things. I see you already have a colonoscopy lined up and that's great. That should get you some good answers so you won't have to worry what it might be going on. The goal is to figure out exactly what's going on in your on your way with that.
Your raised calprotectin is usually an indication of inflammation in the intestines. So this could be the culprit for what you are experiencing as far as symptoms. The colonoscopy you're going to have should go a long way in getting you some answers.
I do wish you the best in finding exactly what's going on. I think you're well on your way to doing that. I hope your colonoscopy isn't too far out. Also, please let us know what you find out. It is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,
