Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. Anytime there is blood present in a stool sample you need to find an answer for it. Blood in the stool can be caused by many different things. There can also be blood in the stool that is not readily identifiable by just looking at it. I don’t think you should be too surprised that your test came back positive.
It would not hurt to repeat the test. The fact that your husband said he did view some blood and diagnosed it due to constipation would be worth finding out the cause. It may be something easily identifiable and diagnosed with an exam or it may require a colonoscopy to see what’s going on. But anytime you’re dealing with blood in the stool, I think it’s something that requires a good answer.
Another thing to think about is if there is a hereditary aspect to any health issues. This is good information for your doctor to know as well. It may help determine what testing needs to be done.
I do wish you the best in finding out what’s going on. I would not say it’s necessarily something to worry about, but I would say that something that needs to be checked out. That will give you peace of mind and put you on the path to being well as soon as possible. Also, if you could let us know what you find out when you get these answers, that type of information can be useful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,

Just a reminder - this group is here to offer support, share experiences, and offer our thoughts - but this is not medical advice, and you should always consult your medical professional(s). Additionally, for all emergencies, seek urgent medical care, never delay.
I would have thought the symptoms are important too and like the fit test, need explaining because the fit is just a marker, not a diagnosis. I was told a score under 10 (mine was 3 , several times )so i was told i didnt qualify for colonoscopy so i went privately for two scopes The gastroenterologist found four conditions but not bowel cancer. Diverticulitis was found and all the while, gps just said it was ibs.
