I was hoping someone would help calm my nerves a little. I have been experiencing blood in my stool quite regularly, which I could see. The doctors still made me do a fit test. The fit test was positive, with high levels of blood. Now I’m petrified. Does the more blood you have, or higher level of blood you have indicate something sinister ? Has anyone had any positive outcomes with fit tests.

Positive FIT TEST!
Hi Jazzy1990, I'm sorry this is going on and such a hard time for you. Have they been able to schedule the sigmoidoscopy for you yet? Since you were having such visible amounts of blood, I think you (and me too) were not surprised that the FIT test came back positive, because that is what the test is looking for, specicially, just looking for blood in the stool. I really hope that you can get the sigmoidoscopy soon and not have this weigh so heavy on you, particularly as you mentioned that you are going through a pregnancy as well.
Please do keep us updated and we are thinking of you!
Hi Jazzy1990, Checking in - any news from the Doctor? Any luck getting the sigmoidoscopy? Please keep us posted. Hang in there...
Have you got any news Jazzy1990?
Hi there, I was hoping to ease anyone's anxieties if they are reading this, and waiting on further testing/colonoscopy. I am a female in my early 40's who has been experiencing chronic, constant diarrhea for the past six months with stomach pain and nausea. My GI Dr. has thought it was viral with residual IBS. I have done a number of stool tests and blood work, all which came out normal. I finally insisted on a FIT test. It came back positive. I was so terrified. I have a small child. I couldn't function. My anxiety was through the roof.
I had my colonoscopy last week. Just before the Dr. began the procedure she told me that a positive FIT test is not an uncommon thing. It is a very sensitive test, and that polyps, hemorrhoids (both internal and external), and ulcers can all cause a positive fit test. Further, she also stated that 9 out of 10 patients who have a positive FIT test DO NOT have cancer. Lastly, she said that 3 out of four people have polyps, hemorrhoids, ulcers, or a combination of the three.
I hope this information helps ease anyone's pain and anxiety they may be experiencing in the interim.
🙏
