Hi all I’ve got to have a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks my symptoms were all of a sudden I had really bad diarrhea for one night and then just loose stools for about five days no visible blood. I went to the doctors and told me to do a fit test which came back positive. The stool sample I used was the worst looking diarrhea possible, I’m hoping there was inflammation in it that’s what caused the bleeding. My bowel movements have gone back to normal in fact the best in a long time , I sometimes wish I hadn’t have done the fit test now because the stress this is causing me is unbearable, I don’t drink or smoke stay active and eat healthy, there’s no BC in my family . Please can anyone give me a bit of reassurance
positive fit test : Hi all I’ve got to... - Colon Cancer Conn...
positive fit test
fit test positive but no visible blood. It’s still good, I remember both my colonoscopy, one in 2020 and one in 2023, both had symptoms and visible blood. I am so worried.
So I can understand your feelings and I think everything will be good honestly
Hi Liv56,
Thanks for posting with us. Any time there is blood in the stool there needs to be an answer. You should know that you’re doing all you can to get the answer. The colonoscopy is definitely the gold standard to find out what’s going on. You’ve gotten some good advice from others on this site as well. Others that have gone through a similar situation you’re going through now. You need to know that there could be many different things causing this. The fact that you are back to normal is great, but it is good that you had that FIT test👍. At least you know and should get good answers very soon.
We do wish you the very best with your colonoscopy. Also, please keep up the healthy lifestyle. I’m pretty healthy and active but you may have me beat😁🚴♂️. I call that being the "best patient you can be." When you can control the things you are doing that benefit your health, that’s being the "best patient you can be." You can’t control the colonoscopy procedure or the information you’ll gain from it, but you can control the things about your lifestyle and what makes you healthier. That was a big focus of mine during my cancer fight. I would focus on what I can do and control that would help my doctors. Nutrition, hydration, attitude, exercise, and faith.
Also, please let us know what you find out. It is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site as well.
Thank you,

I understand how you feel, I had a positive fit test & have my colonoscopy this Sunday. I’m really stressed about it too. I know being stressed makes everything a lot lot worse. I got some diazepam from the doctor just to help me at night if I’m feeling really bad, I don’t take them every night only when my mind is running at 100mph.
I’m sending you lots of positivity.
Sorry to reply now, had a colonoscopy in 2023 October, removed 3 polyps, 1 precancerous so I be going to scope again in Oct 2024 , sometimes I felt like stomach discomfort and gassy and wanna poop so I did wonder after 4 months of colonoscopy, everything should be alright correct
