Thanks for posting with us. I hate you and your son are having to deal with this, but I must say you are all over it and doing what needs to be done. I would not be too worried about the blood test lows, but focus on getting the colonoscopy at this point. I know speculation is what drives the nerves and getting answers is what is needed and exactly the path you are on.
Any time there is blood in the stool there needs to be an answer for it. You are on the way to determining that. If a physical exam cannot determine it, then you need a colonoscopy. The pain issue could be determined from a colonoscopy but may also require a CT scan. I always look at these tests as a positive tool you can use. You’ll get the answers and be on a path to being well soon. Finding things early is very beneficial and you are doing that as well. Please feel good as you are doing everything you need to be doing.
I know when I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, I spent very little time wondering why me, why did I get this, what did I do wrong. I was always a solution person. As an engineer I always focused on determining the problem and then focused on eliminating it. You are doing this. You are on your way to eliminating the problem. You're doing what you can do and doing it well.💪👏👍❤️
Another thing to think about is if there are any hereditary health issues within your family. It is good information for the doctors to know. This could lead to some further testing that could be beneficial to the family.
Also, your son is young. That is very beneficial and works to his advantage. I hope you don’t run into this, but please never accept a diagnosis based on his age. The diagnosis should always point at the symptoms no matter the age of the patient. Never accept that something couldn’t be happening because he is too young. I don’t think you will run into this issue with your healthcare team as you are scheduled to see a colorectal team.👍
I do wish you the best in getting answers and your son getting well. Please let us know what you find out from the colorectal team. Good luck Tuesday as you'll get some answers. I think you are doing great👏💪❤️. You are finding things early. Focus on getting answers no matter what it takes to get them. Advocate for your son. You’re on the right path.

Thank you so much, he has informed me that the lose stalls have been going on for years, but thought that was normal for him. I'm just so worried, it's all I've been thinking about but trying to keep positive for him.
There's no history of bowel cancer on my side but on his dad's side I'm not sure as he was adopted.
Thanks again for the kind words
I will keep you updated.
Sounds like his doctor is being proactive. I had to battle against NHS to get anything done and eventually, took the private route. Though im older than your son and my Qfit was low, yet I still had big problems. 'IBS' turned out to be several inflammatory diseases of colon and stomach which needs ongoing treatment. Its a worrying time, but consider that the qfit can be a marker of numerous conditions that can cause a higher result. The qfit is not a diagnosis in itself but it may point to further investigations needed to confirm what is causing the raised level. Just as well I listened to my gut feeling. Your son needs answers...Best wishes.
Thank you so much, for the kind words and support. I'm glad I found this group. The doctor on the phone just kept going over and over saying you do understand this could be bowel cancer don't you ? I was like okay but he needs the tests first, it frightened the life out of us both.
hi. I had similar issues and was really really worried. Hospital was determined I was too young for anything sinister and told me I couldnt have a colonoscopy however I pushed and pushed until they gave me one as I the worry was affecting my mental health.
Had colonoscopy and everything was fine, just a small hemmaroid.
Well done you! I agree, you have to advocate for everything and if you do, the NHS comes up to the mark especially with cancer. Keep track on your FIT tests thru' out life. Wish I had!But fingers crossed, my Stage 3 Cancer looks clear at the moment, however am under 'surveillance'. My last scan showed a lesion in the second duodenum following a gastroscopy. They think it's benign but the wait ... 8 weeks! Travel insurance impossible without clearance. My son and family live in Abu Dhabi and I long to visit ...
