stomach not bowel
I was seeing red blood and dark blood at times along with stomach pain and iron anaemia. FIT test always negative but i still had colonoscopy but also CT colonography and Gastrosope, small bowel capsule pill cam. What i thought was bowel cancer was actually 4 different diseases, 3 of which in stomach and duodenum. ...gastritis, ployps, hiatus hernia.
I’m so sorry to hear this. I had a positive fit test but was seeing red blood and dark blood also but I don’t think I have give myself the best change by description of my blood loss, they have completely put it down to bowel and not even considered my stomach which has really frightened me that they haven’t put it forward for further scope of upper Gi to make sure, as it was a lot of blood loss I had over 3 days and my pain has been here since it started in October. Iv niw asked my Gp to send me for a gastrophy which she has thank god, as if it’s not from my bowel it has to have came from my stomach. Just bit worried with it happening to me 31st March to 2nd April that whatever it is is has healed and tgry wong find the cause. I have a hiatus her is also which was found about 15 years ago. Have you had any blood loss since and have they treated you now. Hope you are all sorted and thank you for your reply. Did you have a gastrophy throat stomach scan that find these problems
Yes, occasional blood but also iron deficiency aneamia. I take some prescription drugs for this but it has limited helpfulness. I also have diverticulitis of bowel, found on colonoscopy. CT showed very little problems and it was the gastroscope that revealed the problems. Good luck.
my blood work showed slight anaemia also, I’m glad they eventually found out what the problem was for you, I just hope I get some answers also once I have my gastrophy as surely any blood loss is a symptom of something and not even upper haemorrhoids were found via the colonoscopy so just need answers. Hope you are feeling better diverticulitis isn’t good either my mum in law suffered terribly with that. Did they say which of your results was causing the blood loss Tony
They didnt. Just a vague suggestion it could be gastritis or diverticulitis. Ive seen many gastroenterologists, one even saying IDA may not be linked. They investigated for Myeloma as the pain and weight loss got even worse two Years ago right after the c19 shot. You then start going down other Rabbit holes. Im taking iron tablets now for 7 Years since it all started. Seems to me that NHS will only intervene if things get really bad for me. The short is this, dont assume anything until any evidence found because speculation is not good.
yes that’s very true as all was pointing to my bowel but turns out it wasn’t. Nhs don’t seem to be as invested in investigatall avenues of possibility either just feels like have to push for answers. Thank you for your help Tony I hope you feeling satisfied with answers they have given you as possible cause, and get the help you need going forward
just had a gastrophy which found Multiple gastric hyperplastic polyps so maybe that has caused the bowel bleeding haemorrhage and clots as it was not diarrhoea or stool just blood, hope they have found the answer awaiting apointment back at hospital x
