Hi advancgrk,

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you're having to deal with this. I'm glad you're not ignoring it. You said that your blood test came back all clear. Was that just a CBC (Complete Blood Count) test? I am glad to see you are going to have the colonoscopy. I would hope that since you're dealing with abdominal pain that the procedure would happen before “a few weeks”. One, you don't wanna have to deal with pain for a couple of weeks and then must go through the colonoscopy prep. Two, pain is a symptom that needs an immediate diagnosis. Especially abdominal pain. I am glad to see that you're catching it early, but I still think you should be given some kind of priority. Maybe you can call back and ask if they can move you up on the list? I certainly would do that.

For me, there are a lot of symptoms that could be the result of many different things. Blood in the stool is one of those. Abdominal pain can also be several different things, but since it is pain I would think it would need to be a priority. I am glad to see you're catching this early.

Just to be honest with you, this is very similar but I ignored some signs along the way. Abdominal pain was one of my symptoms that caused me to get things checked out. It was a slight pain on the lower right-hand side of my abdomen. I told my doctor about it and I had a CT scan two days after that and then my first colonoscopy two days after that. Things moved rather quickly. I was 49 at the time. I did not catch things early.

One of the things to think about is if there is a hereditary aspect to certain diseases within your family. Is there a history of things? This would be good information for your doctor to know as it may lead to further tests for you. If it is hereditary, it would mean testing for others within your family.

I do wish you the very best in getting answers. I hope you can move that colonoscopy up so you don't have to worry about it for weeks. It could be several different things but it is pain and it needs to be dealt with as a priority. And please let us know what you find out. It is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.👍

Thank you,

yup complete blood count … no anemia. Kidney function was fine liver function good nothing on there to be alarming at all. Def will contact gastro again to check about an updated date. When you did a CT scan was there evidence there that you needed a colonoscopy? Thank you

Everyone's circumstances are different. For me, yes. I could actually feel a small lump on my lower right side abdomen. It's been there for awhile. Didn't think much of it until it got a little tender, so we did the CT scan. I ended up being stage 4 colon cancer. I didn't catch things early and definitely ignored some stuff. The colonoscopy scope couldn't get past the mass growing out of my colon. I had partial colectomy surgery shortly after my first colonoscopy.

Do you have constipation too? Hemorrhoids from that? I had a sinus infection that went for so long swallowing bacteria, my whole lower below the belly button intestinal tract hadn't worked for way, way too long. Id venture to guess that what Sibo is from and probably Sifo as well. I originally found hookworms so not sure what caused the bacteria, but it makes sense . If the pain is from constipation, it can also be after constipation is resolved, in my case. It's like a rock sitting there. Felt hard too but I mean all over down there. If your colonoscopy turns out to be " fine" it's a thought to explore of you're riding in the same boat. I did have an IBS diagnosis a long time which is like just having pain there a lot. I finally found what the Irritable part was in that diagnosis though. Lol
