Hello I posted a good few months ago when I was pregnant with rectal bleeding which started when I was 2 months pregnant.
my baby is now 5 months old and I’m still having problems which are much worse. I’ve had bright yellow jelly mucus blood mucus and bleeding. I’ve also got an inflamed rash on my anal area like little open red blisters my anus feels brushed if that makes sense. I’ve got back, hip and leg pain. I feel so weak all the time and struggle to do anything at all even lifting my baby out of crib.
I’ve been to 5 different GPS showed them pictures of the mucus jelly and blood. Gave me steroid cream for the rash which works after a week then it’s back but the pain is still there. I’ve had 5 doctors give me a rectal exam to be told all is fine. It’s anxiety!! I’ve begged to be referred to a specialist but now being told I’m not urgent as stool test is fine. My bloods have came back I’m folic deficient. I’m also breastfeeding and don’t eat well due to either having some sort of cancer in my rectum or anxiety. I’m at my limit with how much longer this is going to go on. Everyday I worry I’m not going to see my baby grow. I just don’t know why the doctors won’t just push for a colonoscopy. I even said to the doctor if I was 50 and came in with these symptoms would you refer me quicker? They said absolutely. So why not me? I’m 35 by the way. Sorry for the graphic pictures I just don’t know where to turn now. The yellow mucus was only on one occasion. 6 weeks after having my baby.

Thank you for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. Congratulations on the new baby. Hope things are going well with the little one. I hate to hear that Mama is having some issues and I hope they get resolved as soon as possible.
You said that five different doctors have evaluated the mucus jelly & blood in the stool. Their analysis is that all is fine and that your anxiety is driving the issue. It is true that anxiety can escalate symptoms. However, this has been going on for a while. You did say that you were given a stool test. Was that a FIT test? The stool test did come back “fine.” That news is good but you still have these symptoms.
I know you are concerned about having some kind of cancer. Is there a history of cancer in your family? I know that the symptoms you are dealing with could be caused by many different things. Things that are not cancer. You already know this, but you want to be sure it is not “cancer.” I totally understand that. You did say the doctors won't categorize you as “urgent.” Have you been given the opportunity to get a colonoscopy that would be farther down the road? Is the issue you just want it moved up?
I know if we are dealing with nationalized healthcare and you could take this private. I know that can be expensive. There are other tests that can possibly determine if there's any cancer in your body. Such a test would be a Galleri test. It can detect over 50 types of cancer from a simple blood draw. As cancer cells die they enter the bloodstream and the Galleri test can detect them and actually determine exactly where their origin is. There are several ways to get this done as you can read about what the link below.
Galleri® : Multi-Cancer Early Detection Test
You are correct in that a colonoscopy would go a long way to getting you the answers you're looking for. You're just having issues getting scheduled to have one. I'm not sure how to escalate that without going private with your health care. Maybe a test like the Galleri test will put your mind at ease until you can get a colonoscopy. I see from a blood draw it would take two weeks to get you the answers.
We do wish you the best in getting this solved. And again, congratulations on the new baby and we need to get you in a place of being well so you can enjoy every minute of that. Please let us know what actions you're going to take from here. I know information like that could be helpful to others on this site. Maybe others we'll jump in and have suggestions on how to get that colonoscopy sooner?
Thank you,
