Bloody mucus in stool.

About a year ago it first happened where I had to go to the bathroom but all that came out was bloody mucus, it happened about once a month for the next 5 months after that and then it somewhat went away. It came back about 3 days ago and the same situation, not too much stool, just bloody mucus, and most of the time after that when I had to go to the bathroom it is loose stool (not diarrhea) or little pebble like. I had a stool test done months ago when I was really concerned but they said there was nothing to worry about. IBS was brought up also the possibility of hemorrhoids crossed my mind, my biggest fear is that it has something to do with colon cancer. I did have constipation a lot before and changed my diet which seemed to help a bit, my guess was that instant ramen had a little impact on it. No severe stomach pain tho, just little pain here and there not constant.

Anyone with similar situations or tips on what I should do next? I have a doctors appointment scheduled next week to tell them about it again.

Hi Romeoo,

Thanks for posting on Colon Cancer Connected. I'm glad to hear you have the doctor appointment scheduled for next week. Anytime there is blood in the stool you need a good answer for it. One thing about colon cancer is that it is very slow in development and screening and catching things early is very beneficial. A non-cancerous polyp caught early and removed is definitely heading off what could be a big concern later if ignored. When you had the stool test done, was it a test that would check for blood in the stool? I would think that if you were observing this, then it would more than likely come back as positive on a FIT test.

It looks like you're still in speculation mode and we need to get some more definitive answers for what you're experiencing. I would write down all the symptoms you've been experiencing and are experiencing so you make sure you are covering those with your doctor. Make sure you mention the" not severe stomach pain" as that is still a symptom that you have going on. Another thing to think about is if there is any hereditary medical issues within your family. This is good information for the doctor to know as well as that could lead to some other tests that may need to be given.

I do wish you the best in getting answers next week. Hopefully that'll put you on the quick path to being well. Please let us know what you find out as it is that type of information that can be helpful to others on this site.

Thank you,
