Positive Qfit

Hi all and thanks for any advice. I've been having some blood stained mucus obvious and left lower sided pain for a few months now as well as constipation with intermittent very painful episodes when opening my bowels. I had a Qfit test 6 months ago which came back under 7 so apparently very unlikely to be anything sinister despite my other physical symptoms decided a colonoscopy wasn't warranted. I went back to the GP as the symptoms hadn't improved I also have deranged liver enzymes. Tender lower abdomen and he referred me to Gastro urgent referral I have done another Qfit this time it has came back positive 275. I have today had a call from Gastro who has decided that I do need a colonoscopy. Now worried that the other Qfit on the day either was a false negative or that things have progressed. The Consultant said they get excited at a score of 400 so he is arranging an urgent colonoscopy not sure how long I will have to wait. Has anyone else had similar issues?

Hi Katrina999666,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you are having to deal with this, but I would say a colonoscopy would be a good way to determine some answers. The positive FIT along with the tender lower abdomen definitely need to be checked out. There can be all kinds of reasons that may be causing that but definitely answers you and your GP would need.

Maybe someone on this site can give some insight as to how long it takes to get an urgent colonoscopy. We do wish you all the best in finding out what's going on and please do remember to do the colonoscopy prep very well so you may get good results.

note ... I get annual colonoscopies and I found if I move the timing up an hour or 1 1/2 hours, I feel better when heading to the actual procedure and my need to "go" is much less. Just one less thing to have to be thinking about.👍😁

Please let is know what you find out. It may be helpful to others on this site.

Thank You ....

Thank you Tom for replying just today I have had a telephone call to say I have a date being the 18th so not to long away. I was told it would be Moviprep I would be taking. I was told that the sedation is Medazolam and Pethidine I wondered if anyone had any experience of that combination? I am usually sick after any opiate medication so I have asked whether an antiemetic could be prescribed. They said to take first Litre at 3pm and the next at 5pm so I will move that up to 2 and 4pm thank you for the advice on that.
