Hi,

I've always had loose stools however recently they became looser with mucus, my doctor took bloods which were fine but my stools showed microscopic blood in my stools ,he referred me for a colonoscopy

I'm worried this could be serious, I have no other symptoms and feel well

any thoughts please

Hi World098,

Thank you for posting in Colon Cancer Connected. I hate to hear you are having to deal with this, but believe me ... you are absolutely doing the right thing and getting it done early. Your doctor is doing the right thing. Yes, blood is a symptom that needs answers. You are getting it done and not ignoring it. Believe me, you getting the answers. Many people ignore signs.

There can be many reasons for blood in the stool. A lot of reasons. The colonoscopy will go a long way in getting you answers that you can act upon. It will give you better focus. There is no other way. It's absolutely the best way.

And please don't be worried about it. It's answers you are after and the colonoscopy will go a long way to getting you just that.

Pro Tip ... do the prep right. Follow the instructions. Move the timing up an hour especially on day two before you go in for the procedure. This way you won't be searching for a Loo on your way to the facility. I find it best to do it as early as possible so there's really no time to be thinking about food. I will add lemon/lime Gatorade to improve the flavor. Nothing red!!!!

Don't sweat this. Focus on getting the answers. And please let us know how it goes. That information can be helpful to others on the site.

Good luck. You got this!!!👍👍
