Male age 46 with recent discovery of adenocarcinoma arising in Tubulovillous adenoma, G3 differentiation, Tumor budding score (Bd2) imtermediate, tumor extension into the submucosa (SM1 level) Pathologicaal staging at this time is p T1, NX. His great grandfather died from colon cancer, mother has recurrent precancerous polyps removed every 5 years.

His colon resection is scheduled Apr 22 with temporary colostomy. REsults of MRI and CT for lymphatic involvement pending.

Should they also start monitoring his PSA regularly?

Hi, it is only a decision of doctors based on the investigation of the affected tissue. Any prostate markers may be misleading in this point. Trust the doctors capabilities as examination of surrounding tissue pre-resection and treatment goes far beyond the complexity of rather imprecise PSA markers. T1 NX has great outlook and with proper guidance and medical care the chance of recurrence will be minimal. All the best and take care! Stay strong.
