A few months ago I noticed some blood in my stool, I contacted my GP and they assumed it was piles and gave me some medications to get rid of them. It did stop but a few weeks later it continued again and I was noticing it again when I went to the toilet and when I wiped (mainly on the outside of the stool) & also a change in movements, one day it’ll be very loose and then the next I’ll be constipated. it’s not all the time, but it’s continued for a while, and when I don’t have blood I get this like white fluffy stuff on it which I just assume as mucus? I contacted my doctor again and I was also just feeling a bit “meh” and they ran some bloods, all my bloods came back normal. Not lacking iron or anything so I had to do a stool sample and that came back showing it was very inflamed? The ‘calprotine’ (whatever it’s called) is very high. She told me I need to be referred to a gastroenterologist for further tests as they’re still not sure. But I’m in the process of moving homes and have to wait for a phone call from my new doctor to discuss referring me. But since I’ve been getting belly pains right in the middle of my belly now and then and also getting very bad bloating to the point my stomach nearly doubles in size & feels so tight! I have bad anxiety and I have a young child so my mind is just running crazy and it’s all I’m thinking about incase it’s something sinister 😭

You need a colonoscopy and if considered urgent then you should get an appt within 2 weeks, obviously changing GP will slow things up but all you can do is keep pushing for the referral.
Please get a colonoscopy. I had the same symptoms you are describing, and the colonoscopy determined stage 1 Colin cancer. They removed the cancerous polyp and haven't had any bloody stools since, I am getting another colonoscopy in October. Will be happy to see that come back normal
Update: had a flexible sigmoidoscopy today! Was not pleasant at all! But been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis - proctitis and some polyps that ha e been removed for biopsy! Just gotta wait on them results but consultant said that it all looks completely normal other than that proctitis
Hi no update on the biopsy of the polyps yet, doc told me after the procedure they don’t look worrying but have to have them tested in case. But was disbursed with ulcerative colitis..I too have a 2 year old
Thanks I had a docs appointment yesterday and was examined couldn’t feel no lumps in abdomen and nothing to explain the blood as no piles as she done internal to, but she is referring me to gastroenterologist x
Thanks I was spoken to almost instantly from the people at the hospital and i am being scheduled in for a sigmoidoscopy & colonoscopy for some biopsies so should get the dates for that soon. However they didn’t tell me about anything they thought it could be so very worried!
