I am sorry about disgusting photo! I have had blood in my stool and pain in stomach. I have a colonoscopy on Thursday, but am just going crazy! Last night, I put on gloves and actually investigated my stool and was so scared and horrified to find these pieces of what look like (crispy) hot dogs or the skin of an apple. I am a vegan so I know it is not like meat that I ate. I am feeling so certain that I am dying. I can't find anything about this online. I don't know how I will make it to Thursday. Has anyone ever seen or head this?? Thank you!!

Freaking out about this "tissue" in my stool! GRAPHIC!!
Hi Brooke, it’s not letting me see the picture you posted but I had a similar incident two weeks ago. Please private message me.
Hi BrookeFL ,I'm so sorry, that sounds like a very scary experience. How did the colonoscopy go? Please keep us updated.
We're so glad that you were able to get a colonoscopy although we know how hard it must have been to wait those days between this experience and the actual colonoscopy. Please when you get a chance give us an update. We're here for you!

Hi everyone! So it turned out to be a sweet potato skin. But I am very concerned about the blood. I am still waiting for test results from colonoscopy and endoscopy. I go a blood test back and my B12 was over 1400 which can also be an indicator of cancer. This is a nightmare!
Hi BrookeFL ,I'm glad to hear that it was undigested food and not something else. It is good of course that you are still following up and are going to continue to seek answers. I'm sorry to hear that this is causing so much anxiety for you.

When you say that you are concerned about the blood, are you referring to your blood test results or blood are you experiencing in your stool?
At the time of colonoscopy, if there was a mass or suspected cancer, doctors typically share with the patient (who is usually still a bit woozy from the sedation), that there was something abnormal that they saw on the colonoscopy. This is often most people who are diagnosed with colorectal cancer are told that cancer was found - right after their colonoscopy.
Were you provided a CD of your colonoscopy images, or if not a CD, a printout of the images they took? Your colonoscopy/endoscopy report should also show the number of biopsies they took.
The Vitamin B12 levels issue is one that looks to be highly debated in scientific journals on what an elevated level of B12 means, and even what a "high level" of B12 is (what that number is in order to be considered high). In many cases, scientific journals are talking about a low vitamin B12 being a cause for concern. But yes, I'm also seeing information regarding high levels of vitamin B. Do you take vitamin B 12 supplements or a multi-vitamin? Scientific articles are referencing that supplements taken up to 10 days prior to blood work can cause numbers to be elevated.
There are a number of reasons why your vitamin B12 could be elevated - some are serious blood or liver disorders, so it would be important to get additional blood work and urine tests to ensure there was not a false positive.
Waiting for results can be incredibly stressful and it's nearly impossible not to think the worst while waiting. While researching on the internet can give some solid information, there is a ton of misinformation out there (on just about everything) and researching can make your anxiety levels go through the roof. We are big believers in being an educated patient but encourage balancing that with test results.
If we can offer any support please do not hesitate to post or comment.
When you have an update if you would like, please share as we're thinking of you and hoping for good results.
