Hi there , looking for some advice. For the last little wow been having some issues with my back end . Been noticing a stinging sensation after a bowel movements followed by general irritation of the anal area for a while after having a bowel movement . The part that worries me is now in addition to that I’ve noticed after a bm along with the stinging burning and itchy feeling a get a small amount of what appears to be a blood tinged mucous from the anus . I can also feel a small bump right outside the anus . In attempt to get a better look I took a picture , not sure if it’s allowed to upload those kinds of photos here if so I have no problem doing so. Trying to identify if there’s a Hemmeroid or something else. Kinda concerned any thoughts ?

Blood tinged discharge after bm
Hi Emmaline1988 ,
Thanks for posting here and I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and we know how unsettling it can be to see blood/mucus in your stool.
If you check out some posts here in our community, you'll see that people DO post photos, but truthfully there isn't a ton that can be said definitively from a photo - as well as the key fact that we do not offer medical advice on this forum, we can share experiences and people may give their opinion - but we always encourage people to see the doctor if something feels off.
While it may "just" be hemorrhoids, an anal fissure, or even an infection that is causing your symptoms, you do want to have a doctor examine you and treat you. There are over-the-counter and prescription medications that can help with the discomfort you are feeling.
With COVID, your doctor may wish to first see you for a video visit.
When you experience blood in the stool, the doctor will often perform a DRE (digital rectal exam) where they will both look and feel with their gloved fingers, to see if an any anal fissure (tears in the anus), hemorrhoids, or something else that could be causing the bleeding. Depending on the DRE results, any symptoms you are experiencing, and age, your doctor will determine if further tests need to be performed.
Please reach out to your doctor today - and you may ask them while you are waiting for the appointment, what they recommend for managing the burning/itching. There are many over-the-counter items that can numb and relieve those symptoms.
And let us know how it goes!
