I asked my Oncologist today for how many months he planned on having me do Chemo. He told me that I needed it forever. I did not even know that this was a possibility. He said that they might add or subtract from it depending on my reactions to it. He is still checking to see if my cancer is susceptible to any Immunotherapy which would be easier on my body. We are still waiting on lots of DNA information. He presented my case to the regional tumor board and he got the same recommendations on treatment.

Dear Roswel1 ,
I'm sorry that this was something you had to ask v. the dr explaining this to you proactively. Many patients are on chemo ongoingly - and this is a lot to take in and process. Each cancer journey is unique, and remember that science is advancing. It will be so important to see what the results of the biomarker/genetic testing - based on tumor mutations you may be eligible for immunotherapy or other targeted therapies that have had incredible results for many many patients.
We've heard from many cancer patients that it is particularly hard to see their fellow cancer patients "ringing the bell" at their treatment facility, once they are completed with treatment.
Please be kind to yourself - allow yourself to feel whatever emotions you are feeling - but also keep in mind that waiting on those testing results is a really important piece of your treatment plan.
We're here for you,
~Nicole @ GCCA
