Bit of a panic

Sorry if this is long and rambling. I’ve had very loose stools for about 3 months with bloating etc. About a month ago it started getting really difficult to go to the loo, it always felt like I hadn’t fully emptied my bowels but that something was narrowing the passage. Last weekend, I ended up calling an ambulance as it felt like I had a hot poker inside me - trapped wind kind of pain (but no wind). Now when I eat I feel bloated and pained after a few mouth dulls, I’m knackered, it hurts when I poo and pee.

Finally called the GP earlier this week - FIT and Urine tests, a gazillion blood tests and a ‘within 2 weeks’ referral for closer investigation.

I’m terrified - I’m 46, overweight (but was very active), smoke/vape etc.

Just looking for some reassurance I think - though bluntness will also massively help.

Thank you

To be blunt the symptoms you are having are exactly the same as what I had and it turned out I had bowel cancer, so get a colonoscopy ASAP if it’s got early it can be cured with an operation but hopefully it might be something else

Can you please keep me updated about what they find. I would really appreciate it. Because, unfortunately, I, too, am dealing with some very similar symptoms and am looking for some reassurance as well. I am also very scared.

Of course.

Hi WthrMtsfan712, Have you talked to your GP or a specialist about your symptoms? If not, can you make a goal to contact them for an appointment? As you've probably seen, a lot of people post on here with symptoms, but the only way to truly know what's going on is to see a specialist. Please let us know if you need any support to move forward and get checked out.

CazzyCaz, thanks for sharing and I'm sorry for what you are going through. Please do follow up with a specialist ASAP. It could be a variety of issues that you are facing, but to rule out colorectal cancer you'll need to get examined by a speciaist and I would recommend a colonoscopy. Please keep us posted, hoping for the best.

Thank you - my GP will refer for Colposcopy once FIT results are in.

Hi CazzyCaz, Have you already submitted the FIT test? If so, were they saying it will be about two weeks until your next steps? Keep us posted and in the meantime try not to let anxiety get you too worked up (easier said than done, I know!). Hang in there, Nicole.
