Rectal cancer

Hi there I was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer last November after an colonoscopy test. I was started on cheamoradiotherphy which I have now finished I tolerated it quiet well .i am just waiting for ct scan and mri scan which is in late March to see if the tumour has shrunk and to see if I need a operation to get rid of any cancer that is still there. I feel fine have started my running again which is hard but determined to get back to where I was before I was diagnosed . So just praying it has worked . So my advice is if you see blood in your poo just go the doctors it is important the earlier they get it the more positive the outcome is.

Hi I am sorry you’ve gone through this and wishing you the best outcome and good news at your next doctors appointment... were there any changes in your stool or abdominal pains leading up to your diagnosis ?

Thank you

Hi there the only change was blood in my poo which I stupidly put down to my running because it says on dr google that it is common to have blood in your stool after running no other symptoms no abdo pain no weight lost hope this helps

Thanks joey

Hi Joey,

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Praying that you will get through this. Do you mind me asking how old you are? I am 34 and terrified that I have colon cancer. A lot of my symptoms line up to colon cancer. How are you doing now?

Hello there I think I had it just once a couple of weeks before I was diagnosed hope this helps just get to your doctors and get the ball rolling so you can stop worrying unnecessarily.

Looking back I should have listened to by body and gone to see the doctors and maybe they would have caught it earlier.

That is my biggest regret .

The earlier it is caught the more positive the outcome is so just make the appointment .

That is my biggest regret .

Take care and all the best.

Hi i just wanna ask if your rectal cancer was felt through rectal exam or just in colonoscopy, my mom had dre when she went to the doctor and the doctor told her that she felt a mass (but unsure of what it is) so she got referral for colonoscopy but unfortunately she has not schedule yet due to the virus

I'm really scared :(

hoping you the best!!

Hi Neildi I was diagnosed through a colonoscopy witch is a simple precedure

Also I know we have a lockdown and you cannot go to hospital but if I was you I would get in touch your local

MP and tell them what the problem is and I think they will find a solution for your dilemma you can find out or your local MP is through the government website they will have an email address for your MP or phone number hope this helps to do it. Today.

we do have a worst health care system, hospitals are not accepting any patients unless you're a covid patient many people have died because they are not accepting them :(
