I’m 29 years old and for over 5 years I have had bleeding in stool on and off. I have had it checked out at ER’s and through GP a few times but never really any further. My father 6 weeks ago was unfortunately diagnosed with primary Liver Cancer and since then I start to fear the worse and my symptoms have been worse consistently since.
The bleeding every since then has been daily for 6 weeks. My stools are sometimes loose and thin/ribbon like but sometimes very normal size and solid. Bleeding mostly there and it seems like a lot.
I had a colonoscopy schedule for middle of March but was delayed due to Corona. Because this has been going on now for almost 6 years, I ended up having a abdominal and pelvis CT scan because apparently if it was cancer, it would show and it would maybe have spread. The CT scan came back absolutely normal with no tumours. I’m still very worried it could be colorectal cancer.
Any insight on what else it could be???

I'm so sorry that your father has been diagnosed with cancer, I know it's depressing to be in that situation and you yourself has problem with your body too, but if the ct scan showed no cancer then it's not, maybe you have inflammation like many of people here has. i know it's hard not to worry, me myself is also worried for my mom because she's having the symptoms for 1 year and 6 months I'm trying to be positive and would think that if my mom has C she would have produced many symptoms and she might be weak right now but she's looking healthy. you said you're having symptoms for more than 5 years if you have it your body would have reacted.
Not a full colonoscopy but I had a flexi sigmoidoscopy which came back clear. I also went for private consultation and they found internal haemorrhoids during proctoscopic test which they said is the reason. I’m still anxious though.
I was referred back in March but COVID stopped it. Because I had symptoms for almost 6 years with negative CT, Negative FIT and negative flexi sigmoidoscopy whey the specialist don’t thing it’s anything serious. So I have to wait longer if I want to have a full colonoscopy.
Oh I see, well I hope you get some results soon, keep us posted. All the best
Hi Hozai,
I know it's hard not to worry but I really think you're ok. I had the same exact issue and I just had a colonoscopy done yesterday. All clear except for some internal hemorrhoids.
I was worrying myself sick for so long! Internal hemorrhoids can cause on and off bleeding. Inflammation can cause thin stools because your intestines are inflamed and swollen...so it makes the stool thinner.
Of course I'm no doctor and I think you should definitely have the colonoscopy as soon as you can...but...chances are taking your age into account also... you're probably fine!
