Skyfallmoon, just a patient here, but if he's progressing on Ibrutinib it makes sense they would try the BCL2 target which is what Venetoclax targets. Depending on where you live the anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody should be either Rituximab or Obinutuzumab. Obinutuzumab works a bit better, but both have efficacy. They start with the anti-CD20 via infusion then bring in the Venetoclax using a dosage ramp up schedule. I believe the time limited therapy will take about 14 months to complete, but that will likely be driven by your doctor.

As a second line treatment Venetoclax is a great treatment and usually lasts 2 years, with rituximab in U.K. or it may be obintuzumab in USA or other countries.

The ramp up takes a few weeks with regular blood tests but otherwise it’s an easy treatment.

Good luck x

I am currently on my second treatment. First was in 2019, Acalabrutinib and Venetoclax. That was about 14 months. Second line treatment started at end of. 2023, Venetoclax and Rituximab. Two year treatment.

I am lucky, as both have been easy treatments for me with few, and manageable, side effects.

Best of luck.

Hi, I’m in my 7th year of taking a half dose of Venetoclax (reduced because of side effects). I’m also just starting my 13th year of immunotherapy having recently changed from 4-weekly infusions at a nearby hospital to weekly infusions administered by me at home. I’ve never felt so good! I should also mention that I’m 77 and in my 24th year as a CLL patient. Go well.

I have just completed 2 years of Venetoclax (400mg) and 6 months of Rituximab, still have scans etc but my bloods look great apart from IG’s.

My treatment was second line with first treatment FCR in 2020.

I had Venetoclax with Obinutuzumab for just over the year as a front line treatment in the UK and tolerated it very well . As BigfootT has already described I started with the Obin infusions followed by Venetoclax ramp up (which was ok )for about 14 months.

Best wishes to your husband I hope it works for him
