GVHD and skin dryness.

Unfortunately I have chronic graft versus host desiese of the skin and have controlled it with a steroid cream since my ASCT a year and a half ago.

My only issue currently is that I find it hard to look after the skin on my hands and feet that are dry and chapped.

I have used quite a few emoluments prescribed by my consultant like diprobase and use dermo 500 and currently using doublebase cream for the dryness.

I will be seeing my consultant next week and wonder if anyone similar to me may have any comments or solutions.

Many thanks

Michael

I have eczema which can get pretty horrific especially when infected and have found Epaderm - the ointment not the lotion - to be fairly effective. It's a thick greasy substance somewhat resembling lard, it's not attractive stuff but does help. You can get it OTC or your GP can prescribe it too. I use it on my hands and feet/ankles and use gloves and socks to keep it on overnight.

Thank-you grounds. I will surely look to try Epaderm.

Kraskie1915, a friend suggested coconut oil. I massage on my feet at night and when I wake up. It definitely has made my skin better. 🙂 Sandra

Thank you Sandra

Ihave been prescribed a 50 50 emolment that I sometimes use but is truly greasy! Think it's very similar to coconut oil which you use. 👍

Many thanks
