There seems to be a deal of excitement in certain media areas about research involving UK, European and US researchers on a covid treatment drug. The one in question is an off patent drug ursodeoxycholic acid currently used to treat liver damage so a re-purposing rather than development of a new drug. There is also mention of a roll-out to a bigger trial within the UK.

Certainly for us more vulnerable patients this might be a life saver especially as it is already available and doesn't have to go through the normal NICE channels in the UK.
Maybe a glimmer of hope.
