Hello....13 day on Calquence, pain is easing up. My iron is low does anyone have any suggestions on taking some kind of foods to prevent side effects from the iron pill. Also, thank you guys for all your advise when I first started taking Calquence. My White Blood Counts had really risen , but just like you said they are slowly decreasing, Yeah!
Thank you
God Bless everyone!

I asked my consultant about this and was told that it was fine to take an iron supplement. I checked with my pharmacist and was recommended a product called Spatone. This comes in little sachets of water based iron tonic. I was told that this was more gentle on the digestive system and wouldn't cause constipation. I take one sachet each morning and have done for over a year without any problem. I was noticing breathlessness when climbing steps and even small inclines. Now I have no problems. This of course could be coincidental because my treatment for CLL is working well but I certainly am reluctant to stop my Spatone.
Liver, organ meats, red meat. Grass fed grass finished if you can get it. And shellfish. Plant sources are inferior because they are less bioavailable.
I like spatone. I get terrible gripes with other types of iron. Spatone is just water from naturally iron rich rocks and so it’s very low dose and in very available form. In me the effect on my blood count is always very quick!
Depending on how low your iron levels are, you may wish to discuss getting an iron infusion with your doctor. This will raise your levels quickly and then if need be, you can continue with oral iron supplements.
I had the same problem and wanted to suggest the same recommendation. I take iron infusion regularly. It works faster, with no side effects. Still it takes 1-2 weeks before you feel better.
