Good morning everyone .. its a beautiful Sabbath morning here in southern oregon USA ,,,, i have been reading the posts about the tic bites .. so i thought i would comment on my recent experience ... we have had a cool , wet spring here lasting into the end of june . the tic season was very bad this year which was to be expected with the unusual weather .. during a normal tic season i will get 2 or 3 tics on me but only get bitten once every 3 years or so ..------- this year i have picked 22 tics off of me .. and have not been bitten once ,,, i had begin to wonder if the tics could somehow detect the calquence in my body so chose not to bite me .. after reading the posts i am thinking God is just being merciful to me because i already have petechia and purpura and low platelets plus other small issues to deal with ... in any case i am counting my blessings . so very thankful for this site . May God bless each of us on our journey . james

james, I guess I am in need of improving my relationship with our creator. God is not being merciful to me even though I also have petechia, purpura and low platelets plus other small issues to deal with! So far this year I have removed 8 attached ticks, 5 nymph and three adult, lone star & black-legged/deer ticks. My husband has only had two attached tick, an adult lone star and a nymph. Last year I removed 12 attached ticks, my husband, only one. God seems to be showing favoritism...or maybe ibrutinib encourages quick biting, the opposite of your experience with acalabrutinib. 😩
Since I'm on ibrutinib and you are on acalabrutinib, maybe AstraZeneca should start listing tick avoidance as an advantage of acalabrutinib! Anyway, I enjoyed reading your tick story and wish you well. 🙏
oh my gardening-girl i am really sorry to hear of your tic experience .......... do they get infected ??? ---- you have had more tic bites this year then i have had in the 29 years we have lived in tic country ... i don't often get bit by mosquitos either ... my wife also is the person of choice for the tics ,mosquitos , flys etc ... i like the way my wife smells so maybe thats the reason the bugs like her better then me ... even though you are getting bitten by the tics i know the Lord is blessing you in other ways . you make a good point though we can never get to close to our Creator ... we do ask Him every morning for His protection in general as we go out to work on our farm .usually we are thinking more of the cougars or bears or even the tics ........... Hah ,that would be a good one to see if they would do a study on the effectiveness of the tic repellent ability of BTK i drugs . in any case i will count my blessings ... here is a scripture for you and your loved ones ... John 16:33 , james
Good morning james, I've only had one infected tick bite, and that was a bite from a black-legged nymp back in May. Horrible Lyme's symptoms that were cleared with a 21-day course of doxycycline. I also seem to attract mosquitos who bite me and pretty much ignore my husband. Before being on ibrutinib my mosquito bites swelled to unbelievable dimensions, now they are manageable.
you have had a bad time of it . i was thinking that with all your bites that you must have experiened an infection from them ... it sounds like the imbrutinib has helped your immune system work better ... it will be so wonderful to be in Eden restored some day with all this disease and suffering gone forever . in the mean time keep looking up and moving forward . 😊 james
