Paxlovid while on Calquence

I just tested positive and my GP is call in Rxfor Paxlovid, I’m currently taking Calquence. I read on here, I thought, that I may need to stop the Calquence while on it. I searched to site and can’t seem to get any results. I do have a call out to my Onc physician but I was hoping to get a heads up on here. I can’t find a number for Astra Zenaca in the US either. I’m slightly panicky 😫

Eedew, take a look at the references below. The advice is to avoid taking calquence/acalabrutinib while you are on Paxlovid.

7.3 Established and Other Potentially Significant Drug Interactions

Table 1 provides a listing of clinically significant drug interactions, including contraindicated drugs [see Contraindications (4) and Warnings and Precautions (5.1)]. Drugs listed in Table 1 are a guide and not considered a comprehensive list of all possible drugs that may interact with PAXLOVID. The healthcare provider should consult other appropriate resources such as the prescribing information for the interacting drug for comprehensive information on dosing or monitoring with concomitant use of a strong CYP3A inhibitor such as ritonavir.

Table 1 to which I referred above didn't show up so I'll post it here. Unfortunately you need to click on the magnifying class with a + icon to see the table.

Thank you so much! Yes. I was advised to not take any more Calquence for 5 days. Thanks for your help

Definitely hoping that you have very mild symptoms and recover quickly!

Another option, find a facility that can give you Remdesivir. About a 1 hr. Infusion for 3 days. Worked wonderfully for me, no side effects, felt better by day 3, did not progress and did NOT HAVE TO STOP CALQUENCE. Check if there is a Metro Infectious Disease office near you. All the best.

I was very ill with COVID twice this year and was given Paxlovid for five days both times. I felt much better after the second infusion.

I was told to come off. Can’t remember for how long but throughout the courses and I think several days after.

I just finished my last dose of Paxlovid, and I was told to stop my Acalabrutinib and Venetoclax while on the antiviral. This was my first time having Covid, after avoiding it for almost 3 years.

I am not a Dr. but I would guess that if anyone was overly concerned about this interaction, it is probably pretty easy to stop taking Calquence for a few days while taking Paxlovid.
