Is there a recommendation of the time that should be allowed between a Covid jab and a IVIG infusion?

I will be very interested in what replies you receive on this topic. I have resorted to going all vaccinations on the same day I receive my IVIG. I am just shooting on the dark as I have not found anything to tell me any different. Next Tuesday I will be getting my Pfizer Booster on my way home from getting my IVIG. Because I am doing this I do not receive the prep before the IVIG nor do I take the Tylenol or Benadryl following the infusion.

I am also hoping for antibodies in the IVIG …..it is my understanding antibodies have been showing up in IVIG infusions side May in some parts of the USA.

I had a fourth antibody test today….it is the first since I have had the two Pfizer shots plus I have had 5 IVIG’s…we shall see!

I have IVIG every 4 weeks. I had my booster (Pfizer) 5 weeks ago today. My antibodies were checked last Friday for the second time. Negative, once again. No response to the booster. And, no detectable IgG SARS-COV-2 antibodies.

I am so sorry to hear that but I guess I am not at all surprised. I was tested for antibodies just yesterday and that was just four weeks after my second Pfizer. I will get my Pfizer Booster this coming Tuesday and will be tested yet again 4-5 weeks after that. Then I will have had 2 Moderna and 3 Pfizer. Plus monthly IVIG. LLS says antibodies have been showing up in IVIG since May of this year….so I shall be checking the date on my bottles this co I g Tuesday. Have set up a plan A anB should I be exposed or contact Covid or receive Regeneron Monoclonal Antibodies. I will continue use to get boosters as they will likely recommend annually.

I asked my specialist about getting another type of vaccine (Moderna, J&J) and she recommended against it. She said that there is no data on the potential problems with multiple vaccinations for the same antigen. What was the reasoning behind having multiple Covid vaccines?

I tried to set up a plan for getting MAB's and was told last week that they are still not prescribing for post exposure, and even if I am exposed, there can be no guarantee that I will get the MAB's. The country has been put on allocation now. The state (Alabama) is trying to get a work around, but so far, nothing. We received 30% of the requested amount last week.

I saw where Florida has secured MAB treatments directly from a Pharmaceutical company. So, hopefully that will bring them closer to having what they need.

Good luck.

Robert, here is a quote from CDC in the US:“For people receiving antibody therapies not specific to COVID-19 treatment (e.g., intravenous immunoglobulin, RhoGAM), administration of COVID-19 vaccines either simultaneously with or at any interval before or after receipt of an antibody-containing product is unlikely to substantially impair development of a protective antibody response. Thus, there is no recommended minimum interval between antibody therapies not specific to COVID-19 treatment and COVID-19 vaccination.”

I'm not certain what they mean by saying that it is unlikely to "substantially impair development of a protective antibody" (my emphasis). Also, the antibody therapies to which they refer would be IVIG and not B cell depleting monoclonal antibody treatment!

I haven't seen any data on the effect of pretreatment dexamethasone (or any other steroid) on response to vaccination, but I wouldn't recommend holding dexamethasone pretreatment prior to an infusion.

Thank you for the quote.

My Immunologist agrees. He says there is no data on this yet and he advised me to vaccinate at the earliest opportunity.

No recommendation whatsoever so far as I know. I’ve had my 2 Pfizer shots 6 weeks apart and my IVIG every 28 days as usual.

I was told by my CLL specialist to wait 14 days between IVIG and any vaccination. If I recall correctly the reason I was given was that the steroids I get as a pre-medication with IVIG may interfere with the efficacy of the vaccine.

I also have steroids as well, so that'd a good call.

My hematologist told me to delay the 3rd vaccine for 1 week before of after my IVIG infusion. She also said not to get the influenza vaccine the same week as the Covid vaccine. I also get a low dose of steroids with my IVIG.

I was told 2 weeks by my specialist at MD Anderson.
