Post Covid Vaccinations

I have had Covid and received a Sotrovimab infusion on Feb 6 and understand that works for 90 days. I had my third vaccination on August 16, 2021. Should I now get a fourth vaccination? I hope to have Evusheld in May.

What does your doc say? Did you form antibodies after the vaccines? Did you have adverse effects? If you don't get Evusheld by May, can you talk to your doc and perhaps arrange a booster? That would be a good strategy per my amateurish non medically trained reasoning.

Greetings,

What kind of assurances were you given that Sotrovimab works for 90 days? Thanks!

Hello Mr.Yuck, I wasn't. I read this info somewhere on this forum. But that concerned the delta variant. As far as I know Sotrovimab is not really efficient against the omicron variant. But a recent COVID infection would count as a booster. Even if one did not produce antibodies thanks to a recent infection, he could still have acquired a certain level of t cell based immunity. Therefore after good recovery from a recent covid infection one could reasonably expect to have some protection for at least 3 months.

Hi LeoPa,

Thank you! Just curious. FYInterest:Nine hours ago bennevisplace posted:

“An in vitro study of several antibody therapies by Japanese researchers found diminished neutralisation of the Omicron variant and particularly of the BA.2 subvariant. Now a study at Washington University indicates that Evusheld and Sotrovimab both retain neutralising activity, while reducing viral load and lung inflammation in mice.” ~ From Reuters.

Also, all along, Vir has maintained that Sotrovimab is effective against BA.2, although they have not as yet posted readily available supporting research. Time will tell.

Luck to you!

Best,

I don't trust these IN VITRO and IN MICE studies. Looks like nobody is sure of anything 😀

I’ll take it. I think it might be a step up from the test tubes. The mice are bred for such testing. I agree we need to see what happens in humans!Have a good one!

NIH 2/1/22 Statement onTherapies for High Risk non hospitalized patients stated that "Sotrovimab is the only available Anti-SARS-Cov-2mAB against the Omicron VOC". After my third Moderna Vaccination I did have a response much higher than the first two. I have only had mild reactions to the vaccinations.....such as the arm being a little sore for a day.

Hi BobTerry62!

Were you given specific assurances that Sotrovimab would offer 90-day protection.

Just wondering if there is any data.

BobTerry, where did you get the infusion of Sotor..? I am also in the Bay Area and want to have a plan B in case I get COVID. I have docs at CPMC, UCSF, and Stanford. I was on Venclexta for 4.5 years, but off since July 2021. I have had three Moderna shots, latest 10/2021 and am planning for a 4th Moderan now. I had antibody test at Stanford 2/2022 and was in the 90-100% response. A factor in getting your 4th shot might be our dysfunctional government which so far is refusing to fund COVD therapies etc. Thus, if no money, then the supply of vaccine and theraputics will run out. Sooner rather than later might be the best plan for both you and me. Are you a Stanford patient?

I went to UCSF Emergency Dept and received the Sotrovimab infusion. If your vaccinations are not producing anti-bodies you might consider Evusheld which, I understand, is good for six months. If you contract Covid, according to the NIH 2/1/22 Statement on Therapies for High Risk Non Hospitalized the most effective treatment is Paxlovoid shots although there apparently are adverse Drug to Drug Interactions. Note - when I first was diagnosed with CLL I went to Stanford for a second opinion. Also, went to UCSF Oncology department re: lymphocytes jumping blood-brain barrier.. into my bone marrow and brain.

I went to Emergency Room at UCSF. You might consider getting a Evusheld treatment (which, I understand, is two shots)
