Has anyone had a severe reaction to the second half of the shringrix shot? I had mine yesterday and woke 4AM this morning with a fever (39) headache, shivers and shakes, pain and aches, dizzy. I fought the feeling of getting sick for over a hour. My arm weighed about 100 lbs! Holy flying dying I thought I was dying!!! The first shot I had no side effects but a heavy arm feeling. I was diagnosed with CLL August 2020 and at stage 0. My blood work showed me still at 0 in February 2021. (18.9) I'm just curious to know why i had such a reaction??? I took some Ibuprofen and I feel fine / great now! It was a very scary experience.

My husband and I both had extreme reactions to the the first Shingles shot and the second none at all. We got the shots at a local pharmacy and after the first shots our reactions were so extreme that they sent us to our doctor to be checked. Both the pharmacy and our doctor Sid our reactions were the most severe they had seen. It took about 2 1/2 weeks for it to settle out. But absolutely no reaction from the second. However, as bad as the first reaction was it was nothing compared to having the Shingles. I had Shingles for 3 years and I really wanted to die....I have a high pain threshold but I have NEVER had pain like that. We were very apprehensive as we approached the second shot but that one was a cake walk.
Everyone seems to react differently to the Shingrix vaccine even without CLL. I had a low grade fever and fatigue with the first one for a few days but felt off for one week. The second one I felt ok, but had a huge welt with itchy rash for a long time. I took ibuprofen with each one. The Shingrix vaccine is a tough!
I had the Shingles several years ago (prior to the CLL diagnosos) and the pain was horrible. A few months later my wife and both got the Shingrix shots. Our first was a non-event. The 2nd shot gave me like flu symptoms for a few days and my wife had none. Ultimately Shingles was 1000 times worse.
Actually im in Nova Scotia, Canada and it has been really good in my area. Im just waiting for my letter to book for the covid shot. Hope everything there is good and well where you are.
I've been fully vaccinated for a month. My wife is getting her 2nd tomorrow. I just wish I knew how effective it is for us with CLL. We were in Vancouver 2 years ago and Victoria about 13 years ago. It's really beautiful there.
I had mine in 2019 and both made me feel bad for several days. Both times I got a rash down my arm that got the shot, it went away several days later. Glad I got it, better than the shingles.
Hi Susie,I had flu like symptoms with each shot. Much worse on the second shot. Having had shingles three times, the shots were pretty easy if they work. I was 35 the first time I got shingles. Excruciatingly painful! I was only a little tired with my two Covid vaccines. Good luck, Sally
My nephew just got his first Shingix shot and said he felt like he was coming down with the flu the next day and that sensation passed in 24 hours. He has no health issues.
OMG! It was just like....WOW. I honestly thought it was the big one. lol After about 2 days i started to swing back to feeling fine! I have not ever in my life been that rattled with feeling so sick. Usually I dont go through alot of sickness. I worked at the local hospital in my area until i retired a year ago and maybe missed one sick day in 20 years! This just threw me so off but all is well again! I was just so scared. Thank you for your reply. Take care / keep safe (hugs)
I am 86 with CLL under control. I recently got the two Shingrix shots: No negative reaction. After the second shot the temperature may have been half a degree above usual, plus arm sore from shot.
I'm doing great now. Feeling very good indeed. Thank you so much for the reply. I appreciate it. Take care / keep safe and hope everything stays great for you!
