Hi Josieg29,

Here is a link to the 16 previous times a posting mentioned Campath / Alemtuzumab

I suspect that AussieNeil and cajunjeff might say that combination was used more frequently in the past, but some patients like your father had positive results.

Like most CLL treatments it is nearly impossible to predict which treatments will work for a specific patient, the doctors try different modes and observe the results. I hope this new path works well for your father.

Josie I have not been on this treatment, but from what I have read it seems appropriate and a good choice for your dad.
Campath is the brand name for alemtuzumab. It’s a monoclonal antibody. Simply put, it’s a lab created antibody that seeks out Cll cells and binds to them to let them die.
Methylprednisalone is a steroid that works well with campath.
I see from previous posts your dad has had several previous therapies. That makes sense, because campath is usually used after more common treatments like fcr, ibrutinib and venetoclax have been tried.
They have had some good success with this combination therapy in cases where other treatments did not work, so there is every reason to hope you dad will do well on it. It’s actually a treatment that’s been around for a long time and still used. Good luck with it.
Thank you for your kind reply!! And yes we are hoping that this works and gets him into a suitable form of remission as the next plan is a stem cell transplant, he's just done 5 days of steroids in St bartholomews hospital and is feeling a little worse for wear at the moment but we are hoping he feels better within the next week! So fingers crossed!! Thank you for your support! All the best to you, Josie xx
