During the first year after diagnosis (Christmas 2012) I had big problems with AIHA that the CLL caused. I really did not know how long I had left and spent lots of sleepless nights worrying about the kids and their growing up.
I set myself the goal of lasting long enough to see both kids off to Uni. 8 years later, yesterday we dropped my daughter off at Bristol, so I have achieved this original goal!! Whilst her fresher life will not be great, I am sure she will find some way of both learning and enjoying.
I have to re-set my goal....and it is to see my current consultant off into retirement (though I don't know how many more years this is but I sure well over 10 - 15). She was the one who persuaded me to have a splenectomy to stop the AIHA.......so I can't let her down now!!
Many thanks for the wise words and support you have all given - long may it continue!!

How lovely to have achieved your first set of goals. And so nice the youngest is now on her way. But, as they say: A mother's work (which I translate as "love" is never done. So, on to the next goal of seeing your dear Dr. to her retirement. Isn't it interesting how life happenings give us more sweet care objects as we go about struggling to be.
I would suggest, your family, friends, and Drs. are lucky to have you in their lives as you most likely feel your luck at having them.
