I know this is a topic constantly mentioned, but yesterday I had my flu jab at the gp surgery. I questioned the fact that it was different to last year when I had the one for over 65’s. This one Flucelvax Tetra covers from 9 years and up. The nurse was quite insistent and went ahead. She said this is what the U.K. are using now.
Hope you can see the photo. I hope She is right.
Has anyone had this please?

I know another was mentioned but the NHS were not funding it because it was more expensive. I wonder if it has to do with shortages of supplies already ? I am getting mine on Saturday which is late for my surgery but every time I called they said it was delayed.
I was at Kings hospital yesterday and one of the staff telling me this years strain will be a ‘beast’ and they were having a push to vaccinate all the staff.
It is possible that there are already shortages, but I am always a bit worried because my surgery (a nurse who thinks she knows it all, but doesn’t know about CLL) gives me what’s available.
She even asked yesterday if I wanted the “live” shingles vaccine. I nicely explained that this was taboo for me.
Oh dear that’s a worry ! We have to be so vigilant. I will not name the chemist here but I looked at the packet of a prophylactic dose of Azithromycin that I know is 1 3 times a week ! Pack said 1x3 a day ! Hmmm worrying. I will be making a formal complaint.
MGirl, the chart is confusing to me (not in UK) but appears to have 3 different possibilities for over 65 with the Fluad (7) being what has been the one for over 65.
What am I missing that rules out Fluad (7)? is there more in a leaflet that explains that is not available?
Just trying to help with clarity for those in UK who are over 65 and immunocompromised.
According to the Public Health England/NHS coloured poster that I gave the link to, for people over 65 (whether immunocompromised or not), there are 3 types/brands of vaccine that are equally recommended: Flucelvax Tetra, Fluad or Trivalent influenza vaccine high dose*. Only the first one is also recommended for the under-65s who are immunocompromised.
(*There is one difference between this poster and the page that Jackie sent a link to - the latter does not mention the Trivalent influenza vaccine high dose for over-65s. I’m not sure why this is, as both documents are published by the NHS in 2019.)
In the US Medicare covers the cost of the high dose flu vaccine for people 65+. My wife's NIH oncologist says the inactive high dose flu vaccine is OK for immunocompromised people.
