Are you on any medication for the underactive thyroid? There are people over on the Thyroid UK forum who are following Slimming World or similar plans and having some success so if you're not already a member there perhaps it would be worth your while to join up and see if you can partner with them?
I had look in Google for, fatty liver diet, there are a lot of information. I am afraid you need to check and see which diet can help by keeping a food intake daily diary.
I have done this for my allergy and worked out the best food for me.
It so happened I am unable to eat fruits at the moment because the portion in fruits is reacting with pollen allergy!!!!

I'm assuming that you have non alcoholic fatty liver disease? To help you lose weight and hopefully help your liver, you need to cut out all sugary foods and drinks, along with processed foods and 'white' carbs like white bread etc. Unfortunately our bodies love sugar because it's so easy to use as fuel and store as fat.
Make sure you are eating a lot of different vegetables and good quality protein. Perhaps have a look at the Mediterranean diet if you need some ideas.
Look st WFPB NO OIL DIET
Ignore the advice of money generating slimming clubs that will simply send you on a yo yo journey of weight loss. To get down to your natural body weight and stay there simply adopt a low carb high fat diet. This will not only promote health but also enable you to return to your natural weight. Start by cutting all simple carb's such as bread (promotes heart disease), pasta, cakes, biscuits etc. Eat as much as you want of the good stuff eg complex carbs in the form of fruit and veggies. Notice the word 'want' in the last sentence, when you cut carb's your 'want' normalises. I went from 14st to 11st 7lbs in 3 months without counting a single calorie and eating as much as I wanted. I am 60 and my weight at 20 was 11st 7lbs
There's no separate diet for fatty liver. A fatty liver is a consequence of excess abdominal fat. This is caused by excess consumption of added sugars, as well as simple carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, rice and potatoes. Sugars are abundant in soft drinks, diet soft drinks, alcohol, and even in natural fruit juice. If you buy processed food that comes in a box or a bag at the supermarket, chances are there are hidden sugars. The nutritional label may not say sugar, but any word that ends in 'ose', 'itol', 'ohol', as well as syrups and molasses are all sugars.
So step one - cut out all of the above.
Step two - you must begin to burn more calories - this means walking 30 minutes per day.
Step three - change the rest of your diet to low calorie density foods - ie. more vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, chick peas, less meat, that includes red meat, pork, lamb, chicken and turkey. Yes, even chicken and turkey are high calorie-density foods.
Avoid butter, use olive oil instead, but use it sparingly because 'all oils' are high in calorie density. Avoid creams and high fat cheeses, which is almost all cheeses. Feta has half the fat of most cheeses. Goat cheese is also better.
You can replace the simple carbohydrates noted above with complex carbohydrates (in small quantities) such as brown rice, whole grain bread, quinoa, spelt or whole wheat pasta.
One tablespoon of olive oil has the same calories as two apples - which do you think will make you feel full after consuming them? By consuming filling, low-calorie density foods, you can lose weight without having to feel hungry.
Some people on this forum have said that this diet sounds awful, but if you add spices and use good Mediterranean recipes from Greece and Italy or Spain, the food is flavourful. Don't expect an improvement unless you are prepared to make real changes in your life - there are no simple solutions or pills that will help you.
I have lost 40 lbs this way over 1 year and have kept the weight off.
Remember, daily exercise is critical - you must walk at least 30 minutes per day, ideally up to one hour.

Non alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) It's not clear what causes this type of fatty liver disease. It tends to run in families. It's also more likely to happen to those who are middle-aged and overweight or obese.
People like that often have high cholesterol and diabetes as well.

Hi Salisbury,
I presume you have had the advice of not dieting but changing lifestyle bla bla bla. It is good advice I think. Anyway, a really good aid in my battle against my weight is a free app called "myfitnesspal.com". It is free to join on PC or phone and its a brilliant food diary which gives you nutritional breakdown of most foods and drinks. You sign in and log your intake of food and drinks and it shows you the content of calories, carbs, proteins, sodium, sugars etc. It is surprising what differences there are in similar products where you can cut down on most of the above. It is free and the best thing I think is it is private and its only seen and policed by yourself. There's no public embarrassment or people disapproving or moaning at you. If you fancy a beer or a cake and have one or both its up to you. When you enter it on to your food diary you can see what difference it makes to your day. You battle with yourself next time you are tempted. Its easy to register and based on your age, weight sex etc it gives you a target of calories per day, then its up to you. Monitor your food and drink intake and enter your exercise done for the day and you can see what you can achieve.
We know losing weight will add years to our life but it's not easy and there are many people with the same battle.
I believe it has helped me to lose 4 stones but its been a struggle.
So Good luck
