Hi. I have autoimmune hepatitis. Have anyone here had a fibroscan? I'd like to know what was your experience like and were the readings accurate when compared to having a liver biopsy? I had a scan a few weeks ago and not sure if the scanner was right as I had a range of readings going from 43kPa upto 73kPa!! Would love to hear other peoples experience. Thanks xxx

Had my first Fibroscan last week at the London Clinic. It's brand new, and the only machine of its type in the UK and gives readings for fatty liver as well as fibrous. Cannot tell accuracy, as I have not had a biopsy, but the results appear to be in keeping with all the other tests, including a recent ultrasound with contrast. Hope that helps.

I had a Fibroscan at the London Clinic but I cannot find any internet reference to the Fatty Liver parameter measured in CAP dB/m...the scale went from 100 to 400 CAP dB/m....mine was high 350 and they said I had fatty liver which was reversible but I simply cannot find out any more information e.g. what is a normal value

Thanks for your answers. I have had around 5 liver biopsys and 2 fibroscans, all indicating different levels of fibrosis/cirrosis. The problem with autoimmune hepatitis is that the liver can have pockets of cirrosis and areas that havent been affected, so my consultant thinks that when they biopsy me they take part of the liver that is fairly healthy so it looks like my liver is doing ok, but then when I have fibroscans it tells a different story. Very confusing and frustraiting as they cant give me a definate report of what stage my liver disease is.

Wish you all well x

Hi I also have autoimmune hepatitis ,my liver biopsy confirmed diagnosis but they were unable to determine the level of scarring , doc says he's sure I do have some level of scarring with looking at my bloods, symptoms,I am now waiting for fibroscan , I am rather hoping I will have more of a definite answer of what shape my liver is in.
