Glad you got your appointment. How do you feel? What did the lady say?Im not really sure what they mean as still havent got a dx but i guess red is bad. I think this is the one ;
Sorry -missed that bit. The lady said she couldnt comment on the degree? So if it is cirrhosis or not but defo scaring - its now up to the consultant to decide. She did say however i have been extremely unlucky 🤷♀️ and they should investigate the cause further. Are you awaiting an appointment?
Yes i have a CT scan soon, and new bloods and Endoscopy next week so ill get answers, i already know what it is, just probably find out how bad really, im the same still, fatigued, pain in sides etc.
How are you symptoms? all cleared? hows the tiredness/fatigue?
Fab, the ball starts rolling rapidly! Be sure to let me know how you get on.Im ok thank you, totally wiped out 3 appointments at opposite ends of the county has been interesting haha. Generally symptoms are stable, and feel in quite a good place!
I’m hopeful it isn’t cirrhosis but in my heart I know it is but need to face it head on and find out, I have pretty much every symptom apart from jaundice so not much hope!
That’s great I’m so glad Sam! Hope it continues, you’ve been doing fab lately!
Is this chart accurate? I had a KPA of 18.7 from the fibroscan cause was alcohol. Doctor in the US said I have compensated cirroshis. By this chart, I'm at f3!
There are two commonly used Fibroscan Score Charts (both released by the original manufacturers of Fibroscan) an updated one also shows scores for some of the auto immune illnesses and seems to have changed the cut off points for ARLD.
Regardless of score F3 is often termed incomplete or bridging cirrhosis as scarring is starting to occur at that point though is somewhat reversible. Even very early cirrhosis is now thought reversible to a degree so keep looking after yourself and you should hopefully see a cessation of any further damage and perhaps a reversal of some of that already done.
I am actually surprised you even had a fibroscan as I understand from your earlier posts that you have already been diagnosed with cirrhosis - fibroscan isn't really therefore adding anything to your diagnosis merely confirming it.
I was yes. End stage decompensated. There have been discrepancies in results - so ulrasound showed "a degree of fibrosis" so i they wanted to see what "degree" they were looking at maybe? Different people saying different things i suppose, the consultant maybe just wanted a clearer picture?
I’ve just seen your post. Have you had a diagnosis or are they still to determine what your diagnosis is? Sorry if you have put this somewhere already!
I had a fibro scan this around this time last year after they found grade 4 varices on an endoscopy. They did the fibro scan a day later which showed my liver was seriously chirotic, I can’t remember the read the next day the gave me a liver biopsy to which the results came back normal and on a Doppler scan where they couldn’t see anything as they said I was very difficult to scan. It was all very fast as we were going into lockdown at the time and they wanted to get it sorted before they shut down.
This was them followed by a CT and this is what finally gave me some answers.
Hope this helps and I hope you get some answers soon! Take care.
Oh goodness. You really did have a time of it! How are you now? I did recieve a diagnosis of end stage decomp last summer from 1 consultant. New consultant says a "degree of fibrosis"
Had endoscopy a couple of weeks ago confirming 1 grade 1 varicie. Bloods are now stable and reduced to 3 monthly checks and hopefully 6 monthly ultra sounds. Not entirely sure what im going to get from the fibroscan - possibly just the new consultant having his own records and tests as the previius consultant was through a different trust x
It was a bit of a rollercoaster, like you it didn’t sink in and with all the unknown. Covid has been such a horrible time for anyone with health conditions. I feel like I am on the other side of it all now, I’ve got my head around things. I think that the hardest part. I’ve got a portal vein thrombosis which stopped blood flow but with medication it has reduced and there is flow back into the liver and my bloods are improving. I have a blood condition that caused the clot so am now on medication for life with regular bloods to monitor any changes. All found out about the same time.
I don’t know much about end stage decomp, have the placed you on the transplant register? It might be something worth asking about when you do speak.
I hope they do get in touch with you soon, the anxiety of waiting and not having answers can be a battle in itself.
I totally agree - my problems all hit at the same time as covid too - quite literally, i had covid and liver packed up so to speak. Im glad your getti g your head around things, theres sooo much to take in isnt there. And so much worry. You must be relieved that the medication is helping now! Long may it continue. They havent spoke about transplant - but have taken me off diuretics now and i just seem to be set on my jolly little way 🤣 i guess untill they decided if it is "cirrhosis" or "moderate fibrosis" we are at a standstill. Thankfully i am symptom free now - just a bit mind boggling x
