Liver cancer???

Hi there

I have been at the doctors and I’m super upset as she suggested I have a fatty liver and she’s asked me to have an ultrasound!

I’ve had two iron infusions five months ago and kept taking iron tablets as asked! My enzymes etc were perfect before the iron infusions and I’m super scared as I think now my liver has been damaged by this procedure!

I’m vegetarian but I do have a lot of tied chips and chocolate and chips unfortunately and some days I forget to make me a priority as I run a family of two so my stress levels are over the roof!

I don’t smoke or drink and I have experienced lately a bit of uncomfort where the liver is !

I do excercise and I’m not overweight :(

Please help as I’m scared

Hi, first thing is don’t be scared and don’t ask dr google! I’m not a doctor so can’t comment on the iron thing, but I can tell you that fatty liver can be reversed with a healthy lifestyle. I don’t drink or smoke either and never have yet I got it. I only have to look at a bag of crisps and my liver blood results triple! The best thing you can do is to eat healthily and take regular exercise, if you are overweight then you need to work on losing it. So think fish and white meat, nothing processed and lots of veg etc, no stupid diets as that can make things worse. Did your doctor do liver function blood tests? Please try not to worry, I have been there and there really isn’t any point until you have had your test results and have a better picture of where you are. There are lots of us on here who have fatty livers and are in the process of reversing it so please don’t worry. Hope this helps, Owlie x

Thank you so much !!! You honestly made me feel so much better! I follow a vegetarian diet but to be honest I do like my chips and dark chocolate .... I do excercise regularly!

Thank you again and God bless you

We all like our chips and chocolate, lol. Nowt to be ashamed of there.

Try not to stress too much. Lots of people have fatty liver and it is something you can generally do something about. If it's your meds that have caused it then I'm sure they'll review that protocol with you to see if there is another way of managing that aspect of your health.

Thank you 🙏🏻

Hi Aerosinodos,

There are some medications and medical procedures that can damage other organs. There is also some damage that can occur if you don’t have these medications or procedures.

Your GP has sent you for a scan and although it’s very hard, please try not to worry until you have the results from this.

She has made a suggestion of fat on your liver and your worried brain has grabbed onto that and ran to the conclusion of cancer. There are also many things that can make you feel uncomfortable in the liver area including indigestion.

No one on here can tell you what you have or don’t have. The waiting for tests can be excruciating but do all that you can until then including staying off google!! or before you know it you will also think you have tropical frost bite and growing a leg out of your arm pit.

If you haven’t already, healthy diet and exercise (if able) Read some of the posts on here, there are some lovely people who have been diagnosed with fatty liver and have completely turned this around, with a bit of hard work.

Chin up and wait for the very excellent heath care professionals to diagnose you properly.

It's far more likely that chips and chocolate etc will have contibuted to your fatty liver than iron tablets. You need fruit and veg, foods high in protein and measured amounts of carbohydrates to give you energy to be able to do the exercise you also need. Ditch all fatty and sugary foods and in time your fatty liver will recover.

Stop googling.... info on there is often greatly exagerated and will convince you you are about to die. Use only the livertrust sites and NHS for more accurate information and please stop worrying.

All the best

Laura

iron is SUPER hard on the liver. quickest way to lower it and do a good deed isto donate blood!!in the old days, they would leech blood and people would feel better. reducing their iron was why they felt better. it also lowers your chance of heart arrack or stroke dramaticaaly. after your second donation. soorry keyboard problem.

Its very highly unlikely you have cancer and i doubt that thought has even crossed your GPs mind..

Ok to fix your fatty liver you need to lose fat (obvious right). Unfortunatly we cant target our fatloss so it just comes off wherever it wants. My thoughts were if i kept on losing bodyfat then sooner or later the intra organ liverfat will go too so I just lept on dieting and losing weight til my ultrasound showed my liver clear. It worked.

You can do this too.

What i did was cut out all carbs (except in things like peas and broccoli etc) and cut out all sugar. Let your body burn fat as the fuel source.

I was overweight and had to lose alot of weight but normal weight people can have fatty liver too. The solution is the same in 95% of cases, weightloss.

Be patient and it will work with you too 👍🏼

That's more like it nen. PMA. Got the t-shirt so keep passing it on with those positive vibes. 🙄

Thats the plan feck.

Still, the vibes would be more positive if i knew what was causing my ruqpain 😕.

My GI somehow ruled out cirrhosis with bloods and ultrasound so i suppose thats a positive start.. now there is a list as long as my arm of other things it could be...🤔

ruling out cirrhosis is quite the positive start I can tell you

B3nnen2015 profile image

Definitly.

I used to drink like a fish,a bottle of 70cl rum each night, i was a big guy and thought i was indestructible as i could wake up early and function fine every day with work gym etc..

The thing is,

When he said its definitely not cirrhosis as he could tell from my bloods, I said to him 'but bloods numbers can be normal with cirrhosis'. He replied with pointing at his computer monitor 'if you had cirrhosis, that number would be higher than that number'. I found myself nearly getting into an debate with a consultant gastroenterologist about liver disease.🤨 my wife tells me he knows much much more than me and i should accept what he says.

I hope hes right.

Anyway he thinks i have an ulcer causing my ruq pain and I find myself in the strange position of hoping my upcoming endoscopy finds a duodenal ulcer 🤔

We will see

well yes let's hope so-not hoping you've got an ulcer of course

Just the one. That begs the question does big guy = big liver?

Fact - A big egg just contains more white the yoke remains the same size as in a small egg.🤔

Double Yoker?

Only the one. Sometimes i had some beers after it, if i was still awake.

Liver size? I didnt give it much thought when i was drinking (who does?) .

But i ended up with a big liver too, hepotamegally.

I was watching an old Star Trek TNG episode yesterday and it was noted the Kling On, Worf had 1 extra of every internal organ as a back up incase the 1st one was damaged in battle.

I thought that would come in handy.

Why the heading "liver cancer"

Strange, or am I missing something?

in reply toC1JAM

I’m sorry 😐 I am so scared that I have liver cancer after the blood results , I’m not sure what to think! Very scared

C1JAM in reply to

its ok mun. liver cancer is usually in the final stages of severe cirrhosis .

It is all scary in the beginning but hopefully you'll be fine.

good luck to you

No point in stressing out, take a deep breath and breath. Await your results as suggested.

You’re doing so many things right, but then go into reverse gear with all that chocolate 🍫 and chips 🍟 👀 Naughty 😬 🤣. Leave it alone if can, look at all the delicious things you can eat instead, that will be healthy and beneficial for you. YEH 😜.

Best wishes ( don’t worry be happy) chrissie 👌
