sore back

hi just wondering if anyone on here has anything similar? I’ve been diagnosed with possible borderline cirrhosis. All my blood tests are fine but I’ve been feeling what feels like very sore back muscles (mid back) mostly when I’ve been sitting for a while or been hunched over. I just assumed it was bad posture but someone has said it could possibly be related to my liver?

Any advice much appreciated x

I think you should talk to your doctor, that doesn't sound like an actual diagnosis if they are saying 'possible'. I would also question what they are basing serious liver disease on if your bloods are fine, was scarring seen on a scan? Liver disease isn't hard to see and stage when doctors investigate the liver, they should KNOW exactly where you are at after a few tests.

thanks for your reply hells456. Yes I’ve had a fibroscan and whilst it shows borderline cirrhosis apparently my gastro consultant also says they’re not always accurate? I’ve not had much more info from him apart from being put on 6 monthly ultrasounds. I do feel very confused!

I went to a and e on Saturday with bad pain in my side and back was the 10 and a half hours done bloods and urine test all came back fine in the end told it was nothing sinister just muscular damage I work 12 hour shifts lifting and turning most of the day so she put it down to that told me to take stronger pain killers just and take it easy for awhile I to was told I was borderline cirrhosis but didnt tell me till 2 years after the diagnosis I was still drinking for 2 years not knowing I went of it for 10 months but have been on and of it ever since plus I put it down till old age I'm 60 goodluck 👍

Middle back pain always raise suspicion about back bone thinning....X-ray or DeXa scan needs to test this

hi my partner has exactly the same but bottom of the back and has told his specialist who said it was nothing to do with the liver he’s 16 on the fibro scan so that might give you some idea I hope so x someone did tell him it could be fibromyalgia after the body shock he’s actually booked in Friday to start looking into this but it is exactly the same thing as your getting!! Plus hip pain I wouldn’t worry to much re liver I know my partner isn’t and is a stress head!!! Like Tommy62 said it’s probably muscles etc good get to your dr and good luck xx

aw thank you for the reassurance Bibbybob x my score came back at 20 but then my (fairly useless) consultant said it’s not always accurate and then said no more! So I feel im living in a constant state of anxiety x

I hope your diagnosis is being looked into with other tests and more detail.A fibroscan score of 20 is quite a bit more than "borderline"!

thank you Roy1955 🙏 the gastro consultant just said it’s not always accurate and that was the last I’ve heard! I’ve spoken to my gp today and he’s going to refer me to a liver specialist I think.

we know how you feel Honeysuckle123. My partner is on Facebook and he’s more than happy to chat to you there as it seems like you’re both having similar experiences. Just send me a DM if you’d like me to share his contact with you 🙂
