My back problems.

Hello again all. After my good news yesterday I have just received a phone call from my GP that is a bit of a downer. You will recall (that is all of you that have read my posts) that I have been suffering quite badly with my back. I had a back x ray 2 days ago and apparently I have two fractures of the spine. At least I now know that it is nothing to do with anything sinister going on inside me from the liver transplant. Just have to wait now and see what happens next. All the best everyone. Alfred

Oh dear me ATG, gutted I am for you. What will they do ? Is it treatable or something that heals itself?

Big relief nothing more sinister from transplant so big plus there.

I am thinking of you, sending healing thoughts to you. X Jaycee

Hi Jaycee. Thank you. I don't know what will happen re treatment but expect that I will hear pretty quickly. It would be great if I can get away with just wearing a back brace because two weeks tomorrow we have booked a cozy cottage for our first holiday for about 5 years, SOB!! Was just planning on us chilling out and having the occasional amble. Fingers crossed!!! Alf

Omg alfred what have you been doing?

Re fixing it - I must have told you my spine is touching my spinal cord and I was supposed to have an “urgent” back operation! That has all been put on hold because of tp. Been told it will now be between 3 months and 9 months before they will operate!! It will be really interesting t see what they say to you. No kidding now, me old fruit, I also hope you can get away with back brace for a while.

All the best alfred.

Think I must have been sleepwalking or something! Can't remember doing anything bad enough to cause this. You know me, I've not even lifted the iron!! Doc has already arranged a bone density test (not got appointment yet) so hope it's not going to be along term bone problem. We may have to put our race off a while Lemis. What a pair we are!!!!!!! Sounds lovely fingers and everything else crossed for you both to still go. My husband and I are off to Kingston upon Thames, on Saturday as we have to stay within a couple of hours of the Royal Free... just for two days... I am a total sun worshipper, and lived and worked in Cyprus for many years. I really miss going away...

I am thinking of you with positive thoughts in your cozy cottage.

Thanks Jaycee. Cyprus sounds good. My heat will be coming from the wood burners if we get there, If not then it's the cozy wood burners of home and maybe no ambling. Hope Kingston goes well. All good wishes. Alf

Assessment?

in reply to

No done that, in July.

Now on the list, just going away for a breakaway from sunny Bournemouth to Hampton Court.

I had to phone to say I am not going to be home, but will be nearer to the Royal Free.

It is my husbands birthday treat.

Have a great evening Twosmiles.

in reply to

Ah yes jaycee you have to stay close don’t you...We never went away but that’s because I was so so lucky - only 8 weeks on List.

Hope you have a great time - keep that mobile fully charged and the overnight bag under your pillow 😁 (not really but you know what I mean and don’t forget sloppers like I did initially...)

Sloppers are so much better than slippers 😁

Hi Emlis. Sloppers sound a bit dangerous to me. Sounds like my slippers when the backs are all worn down!! Be safe! get new ones! RAF-get- lathered.

Like Peter kay says wearing slippers makes you run faster. Or at least it felt like that when you were a kid. You'll have get slippers with go faster stripes when you do your race. 🏃🏆 Deb

I have a apple i watch so I can take a call on that as well.

I have a mophie charging case, so I have double the charge available. I had forgot the sloppers! So I thank you for that.

Have a great evening Milo x

Hahaha - very good! Do you know the one that starts very rudely and goes “I thought xxxx was an Irish airline until I discovered Smirnoff, the effect was shattering”. Anyone who gets what xxxx is (that’s not the number of letters btw) gets 5 points. Anyone who says what it is gets -5 points.😁

Hello Jaycee, sorry for butting in, but saw a connection here. I was born in Kingston-upon-Thames 65-years ago. Back in 1977 I spent three years stationed in the RAF in Cyprus, I can still remember a smigin of Greek, Geia sou fíle mou.

in reply to

“Hello my friend” I was in Cyprus from 1970 to just before the invasion. Then I came back to UK stayed until children left home and 20 odd years ago went back to open my business and live there.

Came back 6 years ago for good.

I live in Bournemouth now.

But off to Kingston upon Thames

(to be near the Royal Free just in case LOL).

Just for two nights to celebrate my husbands birthday.

Jaycee.

That is all so cool. My days in Cyprus were fantastic. I worked up at Ayios Nikolaos, and out of my office window, I could see the ghost city of Famagusta, it was such a shame. Even to this day, loved ones still have relatives missing from the invasion. I used to live in married quarters down in Dhekelia. One thing I really miss is the Sheftalia. I got married in 2013 and went on my honeymoon to Kos, I ask in a restaurant once is it was possible to get some Sheftalia anywhere in Kos? The voice came back is a strong cockney accent, sorry mate, your on the wrong island.

I have been so tempted to go back to Cyprus, but I'm frightened that it just won't be the same.

We lived in Oriklini near larnaka. The Dhekelia barracks had the best fish and chips on the island. Just temembering Christmas day, sitting outside drinking red wine and wearing short sleeves...sigh. Deb

Ahh yes my children born in Dhekelia.

I remember walking the beach front in Larnaca eating kebabs fresh made. Beautiful.

The city of Famagusta is still the same.

You are right Cyprus has changed it is quite different to how you remember it. But 6 years ago I was still there and loved it still.

My thoughts would be it used to be like Mama Mia now it has a touch of Blackpool in places. LOL.

If you go out to the mountains it is still the same and the old town of Larnaca still the same.

The rest a tad commercialised.

Jaycee.

Oh poor you! My mum had a knee replacement in 2009 and the day after surgery a nurse pushed her in a wheelchair to the bathroom and left her alone and she fell. They xrayed her the next evening 😕 and discovered she had broken her back! Luckily it was what is called a wedge fracture which doesn't cause paralysis. The bad news is that she is still in pain from it 9 years later. I hope they can do better for you Alfred. Do they know how the fractures happened?

Take care...seriously. Deb

Hi Deb. I'm at clinic on tuesday next. They have chased up the x rays and report and all will be discussed there and I will find out what the next move is. It's just such a shame to think that if it were not for this back problem I would be feeling really well and raring to go. In fact probably better than I've felt in the last 10 years truth be known. I will get there eventually, I know it!! Alf

Thank you Mam38.

Really sorry to hear this, but I'm glad it was checked out for you rather than you struggling on not knowing what the cause was. I hope you get the right advice to manage the pain and cause very, very soon. I hope you're able to have a lovely time at your cottage, you thoroughly deserve the break (holiday, not the bones)

Best wishes Shazz

yes, don't want any more bone breaks! lol. Thank you for the kind words. I'm really hoping that we can make that week away. Might as well be in discomfort with a sea view than be in discomfort at home. Everything crossed here. all good wishes to you. Alf

So I would recommend you don't go to the doctor for your back pain. Back pains are known to be painful and trust me, I've been there. However, before, I didn't search up on the internet until my friend recommended me to this program. It helped me regain my back in 2 weeks and it has helped my friend regained his in a week!

Here's the link to that article however you are going to have to copy and paste the link to the search bar...

Hope this helps!

Hi russ and thank you but you replied to an old post and things have changed since then. I went on a weeks rest and relaxation holiday and I fell in the shower. Long story short I ended up in hospital where it was discovered that I had opened up 2 fractures that were healing nicely and caused a third larger fracture. I have been in a back brace since then. I got my back brace off a week ago. I am now suffering from back ache when I am upright or sitting but disappears when I lie down (bliss). I've been told now by the specialist that the best exercise for my back at present is swimming. Thanks very much for your reply though. Regards Alf
