This is just a heads-up if anyone is interested. Tomorrow (19th May) There is an event taking place in the atrium of the QE Hospital, Birmingham Celebrating International Clinical Trials Day.
I shall be there talking about people becoming involved in Clinical Research as a PPIE members (Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement).
All research requires funding and the importance of patient input has now been acknowledged as being a vital part of any project, after all, we are the one’s who know how it feels. This is vital if any trial is to succeed.
I personally am involved in five different projects at the moment. It’s my way of giving something back for all the help and support I was shown by all at the QE following my Liver Transplant back in 2016.
Come along and say hello if you happen to be at the QE tomorrow.

Hi Richard. Lovely to hear you again. I would have loved to have come along as it sounds very interesting! However, tomorrow is my 3rd Transplant Anniversary and I’m going out to celebrate and a 200 round trip would exhaust me. Have a great successful day 😀
Nice to see you back on the forum Richard..it does sound interesting, but gp appointment and bloods to be taken again im afraid tomorrow!!..Hope you have been well.
just phoned taxi and the quoted me £45 to get there it’s too expense cause that would be nearly £100 there and back a train is just over 2 hours journey sorry
I would of found a way to make it there but I've only just seen this post unfortunately, can anyone tell me the best way to get on any trials as in where to look
I'm sorry I missed you, I stayed until 2:00pm and then went over to the Institute of Translational Medicine building. A Professor friend was giveing a talk, about home management of inderviduals with cirrhosis. I'm acting as co-applicant on his project. So I went over to hear his presentation.
It all made for a very excellent day.
At one point I got talking to a nice lady with an Irish accent, trying to get her interested in PPI &PPIE involvement. She seemed very interested and let me prattle on.
After a while something didn't seem right, and so I asked her if she was possibly involved in the medicine in any way. That smile just got bigger as she told me of her job title. She is the Director of Research Development and Innovation at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).
You could have blown me down with a feather. Happy Days
Pleased the day went well - I would have liked to be there . I live “up North” and finding it difficult to travel .Home management of cirrhosis sounds interesting . Could you post some information on here? Your posts are always helpful and informative . Thank you regards Carol
