Hi I had a fibroscan and had a score of 6.9 and I was told upto 8 was normal. I was told I had a fatty liver with a score of 300. Would anybody know what a normal liver score should be? Many thanks.
Fatty liver: Hi I had a fibroscan and... - British Liver Trust
Fatty liver
If you look up Fibroscan Score Chart on line you'll see loads of images of the interpretation chart as here.
The bottom line being that for Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease where you'll see that 6.9 kPa is in the F1 fibrosis bracket (& very reversible).
A CAP score of 300 is at the higher end of the Steatosis Scale so more than 67% of the liver is affected by fatty change.
"About Your CAP score
Your healthcare provider will use your CAP score to find out your steatosis grade. Your CAP score is measured in decibels per meter (dB/m). This score will range from 100 dB/m to 400 dB/m. Your CAP score and steatosis grade can go up or down over time.
The following table shows ranges of CAP scores, and the matching steatosis grades. It shows how much of your liver is affected by fat buildup. Normal livers can have up to 5% of fatty changes in them. A score below 238 dB/m means the amount of fatty change in your liver is not higher than normal.
CAP Score Steatosis grade Portion of your liver affected by fatty change
238 to 260 dB/m S1 Less than ⅓ (11% to 33%)
260 to 290 dB/m S2 Between ⅓ and ⅔ (34% to 66%)
290 to 400 dB/m S3 More than ⅔ (67%)"
Hope that helps.
Katie
Thank you for your response. I guess by following a good diet the CAP score should reduce and hopefully the 6.9kPa will also reduce.
Yes, if you can have a good heathy diet and exercise hopefully you can bring both of those numbers down.
The British Liver Trust has an excellent page on NAFLD and a downloadable publication about treating the condition with healthy diet and exercise which you may find useful.

Mine was 39.2 I wouldn't worry too much about it. They never give clear answers but give it a go, the consultant might explain it.
Hi Reklaw,
I’m sure you can bring the score down. That’s great that you caught it before it got really high.
Best of luck!
